RCR's Next car should be.....

Wondering how that is topical to the conversation Paul?

Ken Block makes a video and the whole web becomes consumed by it...

It's not, but just imagine that action in a SLC LeMans or Apex!
20mil hits in 6 days shows the power of Motorsports, the internet, and social media, plus it's cool as hell!

Hey Randy.

I understood the topic of the thread to center around "RCR's Next car", so I tossed in a video which shows a highly customized car with some unusual and modern characteristics.

While my personal tastes revolve around Can Am and Le Mans cars of the 60's & 70's, to many (most?) drivers today that era is ancient history, and as dinosaurs like myself lumber toward the sunset, a new species is coming.

This video shows what the 18-35 set believes is "cool", as evidenced by the 20,000,000 hits in 7 days. The WRX/Focus types of cars and their enthusiasts are growing in numbers and, ultimately, discretionary income.

Hey, highlighting a front drive car [gasp!] that nobody I grew up with would ever think is cool is not something I relish, but it appears to be an industry trend, so I posted it.

Keep up the good work,
Paul

The Tipo 33 is a stunner....
anyone fancy funding the development of a kit....and all the details such as the twin torque tube and the magnesium castings too...

How about this one, an ATS, similar in time and style to the Tipo 33. But I think slightly better looking. Midship V8, I doubt there would be any copyright issues. I saw this one at a show 10-15 years ago, it is stunning in person.

The ATS is indeed a nice car.

Also a nice and very rare car is the Nomad mk1>>

But what I was thinking last night is, it would be fun to build something different a bit like the race series were they use say a BMW looking shell but really different underneath...

Then I thought hey...that RCR alu GT40 chassis could be used to make some special Renault R5 Turbo 2 or Maxi cars...
Those cars are RWD and the engine lays also longitudinal and are 2 seaters to...
Think about seeing that R5 Maxi with a big V8

there is at least one person who did fit a rover V8 even in the standard R5 maxi :) so with a RCR gt40 chassis and the rest R5 looks sounds like a great little monster car.

I love the "Shooting Brake" style cars. Like the Thorndike Special from Herbie the Love Bug:

Long front end, passenger compartment pushed back to the rear of the car. I love it. The 240z is the same style:

Imagine that style, but in a much more modern-looking, race-car form. Like the SL-C, but in the Shooting Brake style. I'd sell a nut for one.

One of these right near my house and it's red too. Fantastic little cars.

It was in this thread a while back, but.....

That was me. I love those old stadium trucks and the Iron Mans was the Top Dog of the bunch.
Fran actually chimed in and said he had already looked into something like this but the build costs were simply too much for something that literally takes a pounding to make reliable.

With so much open desert out here (in Vegas), I would love to own a stadium style truck to bomb around with. There's trails that go from Vegas to Reno, Vegas to Victorville, Vegas to .... Anywhere really.

someone waaaaay back on page 28 or 29 made reference to the Hartley V8 ... I was wondering if he knew there is a twin turbo version that puts out 10001 hp? It's being made available by Holeshot Racing in the UK. Not bad for a 3 iitre! I would post a pick but can't figure out how to.

I've heard a year or so ago, from a UK car builder, that their was a client that wanted to let build such 1001hp H1 (or sort like) in a Lotus Elise LWB.

I found that a bit silly, that engine would not last long I'm afraid.

Hennesy(sp?) is doing that.
