MOT done and taxed, now after 4 years it was such a rush to drive yet never went beyond 4000rpm.
But get this, there was a part built GTD at the MOT station, had been in a shed for 20 years and one of the mechanics bought it I advised him to come on GT40s.com so he may appear. Brand new wheels and tyres spinners, Holley all in their original boxes and packaging. It was only a few miles away and never knew.

UN1 clutch problem

Ah, Keith, I only just saw this, I already saw your other comment about the other thread, but had not seen this other comment about the other other thread. In other circumstances I would otherwise have understood your other meaning but I hope you can accept my other future apologies in advance for any other confusion I might otherwise cause at any other time or indeed in any other universe, parallel or otherwise.

Nearly finished a rear spoiler, just need to profile and polish the sharp jetcut edges.
Method;
1 Took basic measurements from my car, and drew it up in Solidworks.
2 Printed a template at home in A4 parts and stuck them to card to check against car.
3 Made final adjustments to the detail dimensions and printed complete full size template on plotter at work for a final check.
4 Bought 3mm 5251 H22 Ali blank and passed with emailed dxf drawing to jetcut workshop.

Cost breakdown is blank £26, jetcut £40 fasteners £16 total £82 inc VAT
could do better if I found a local Ali supplier as delivery was over 30% more than the material cost!

The fasteners are 5mm threaded Rubber Nuts with stainless washer and domed Allen socket screws. The rubber nuts are ideal for the 3/16" thick Dax clip, and hold the spoiler very firmly.

Initially I only planned on the slotted holes, but stability and the slight curve of the bodywork needed more, so I added the 6 additional screws at the bottom. Ahh you may say, no slots, how then can you adjust the spoiler height? Everything has to have a 'cunning' plan, there are in fact two lines of rubber nuts beneath the spoiler.

I am not sure whether to cut the vent areas out of the clip, but if I do, it might look quite neat with ali mesh.

Anyone else with a Dax who likes this would be welcome to the dxf drawing.

When I attended the Sussex GT in 2014, I was very impressed with the look of Dave Collins' Mk II. One thing I really liked was the door mirrors and the way they were mounted and attached through the side windows. When I asked about them DC kindly sent supplier model info and photos so that I could see how they were mounted. I have unashamedly copied them and quite pleased with the result. I opted for flat glass, which gives a satisfactory range of vision, but have to admit that adjustment is a sensitive affair. Once I get them exactly right, I intend to make a template so that I can repeat the angles easily.

Dave, Looks like you made a good job of that. I hope the rear vision is much improved and vibration free.

I find I normally have to adjust my mirrors every time I take the car out to an event as someone will normally knock them so template sounds a good idea for that quick re-adjustment.

I checked my exhaust packing, after about 1200 miles from repack. Even with the sewn together stuff, the fine glass finds its way out of the system, leaving the sewing behind. Thinking about a replacement which doesnt use packing.

Try stainless steel wool, it will not disappear as fast as the fiberglass because it will not break into little parts as easily.

Rick, seems like an idea, ok then, a trip to the pound shop for a box of stainless scouring pads then. :)

Hi Dave,
alternatively try your local machine shop for stainless steel swarf. I've sucessfully used this and unlike scouring pads, it doesn't eventually burn up

I'll consider the options then, as standard swarf can be a bit sharp edged and difficult to handle as a result, but the scouring pads are done in such a way that they are not too sharp edged. I saw yesterday that stainless packing is commercially available too, so will consider that too.

yes I've personally used it and it is difficult to handle (I used my welding gloves) but it does seem effective

Just reducing clutch master from 7/8" to 3/4" as it's too heavy. At the same time repainting pedal support frame with engine paint as the original paint had suffered from fluid spillage. Also painting throttle brackets.
