Just saw the trailer for the new Fast and Furious movie (named Fast Five).
At 1:16 a GT40 pops out! About damn time they had one star in this series.

Personally (and I don't own a 40, nor a replica of one), I am disappointed that this ridiculous series of movies is finally linking to the '40, thus risking the debasement of such a noble vehicle as our subject icon.

If the movie makes the GT40 popular , you might see copies being built on a Fiero chassis or something like that .
Idk...
If anything, people will only respect the 40 more. The hype/respect the series had died after the 1st installment. The movie single handily made the Toyota Supra a valuable (overrated mind you) machine. People that didn't know about the 40 (hard to come by) will get some exposure. But your point is quite valid.
BPU supra's can only handle 400rwhp with "minor" modifications. 600 = masssive single turbo, highway pull powerband, etc...The fact a supra can make like 600rwhp with only minor mods is what made it valuable, not the movie.
The movie though helped define the silly ricer culture though.
Millions of kids will think that it is soooooo cooooool. Did the film actually start the awful fashion of "Drifting" that made half witted drivers like Tanner Foust famous?
I've got an idea - let's make a championship where you get awarded for finding the SLOWEST way around a corner :veryangry::veryangry:
Er, kindly explain the terms "drifting" (anything to do with catching herring?)
Tanner Foust? (A sixpenny opera?)
As for the final idea Graham, I'm afraid it's already happening mate. Check any Waitrose car park on a Saturday...:lipsrsealed:
They are RCRs. It's discussed a bit in the RCR section. I think it's great! Let all the youngsters get a look at what a truly beautiful car is, and some will learn about them and what they are and what they meant to automotive history.
Well, unless the hood is popped I cannot believe that Fran would allow a panel gap like THAT on one of his cars, would he? :worried:
