...perhaps the Government should control all sales of weapons.
 Perhaps you should think
that one over just a bit more!
If you have one, you keep it registered, locked up and unloaded when not in use.
I can think of nothing more useless in a home defense situation (or any other defense situation) than a gun that's unloaded and locked up in a safe.
Registered? It's none of the govt's business whether I own guns or not.

Nothing would make customers of the local Seven Eleven more comfy than to see someone walk into the store packin' a .45! And I would imagine there's nothing that could spark a confrontation with some intoxicated, 'macho', Rambo loon any quicker either! ("Hey, Sheriff Tex! Whatcha gunna do with that gun? 'You think you're a tough guy er sumpthin'? Huh? Pull that gun on
me why dontcha? Huh? Let's see what happens, tough guy"...blah, blah, blaaaaah. Noooooooo thankum you
.)
All types of firearms may be owned except fully automatic.
...which ensures only criminals will have full autos.
All sales via the government, no private sales of guns. All gun owners must pass pyschiatric evaluation every few years, and go through a yearly recertification process...
You don't see where there could be abuses of power that would result in the loss of everyone's Second Amendment rights by going
that route???
Jeff, The Founders added the Second Amendment to ensure that the people had the means to resist/prevent armed tyranny
by the govt! Do a little research on that topic. You'll see that
was their motivation.
"Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence...The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference; they deserve a place with all that's good. When firearms go, all goes; we need them every hour."
-- George Washington
I'm really not trying to pick on you, sir. 'Just trying to point out some of the individual trees that make up the whole forest...so to speak.
I can see that I'm going to have to 'walk away' from this thread for a while! Probably quite a while! It's either that, or stay and develop the civilian equivalent of PTSD!
A Very Merry Christmas and a Happy, HEALTHY, and Prosperous New Year to you all! :2thumbsup:
