More Global Cooling/Warming/Change hoax.

Ahh yes! the international "sigh." Known universally as, "Why can't you dissenting morons get it and just go along with the agenda?"

Here we have an globally impacting discussion, relating to everyone, especially motor enthusiasts, that it has been suggested be shut down.

Kinda like, "Dude, that was two years ago." Only USA Right Wingnuts know of what that is a reference to, sorry.

No Bob - the "sigh" was because you guys keep posting any old headline that appears to support your stance without ever once checking whether or not the story holds water. I believe ALL stories need to be checked, no matter which side of the argument they are generated by.

As far as I can see, the only people who have suggested this thread be shut down are Jack, Jim and Pete, back in posts 1120, 1121, 1124 and 1125.

And for the record, I am not a leftie, neither do I consider myself particularly green (how can I when I own two V8s...), and I hate paying taxes as much as the next guy.

Check the source, in post 1125 in fact I was suggesting that those who were losing the debate wanted to close the thread.
You obviously misinterpreted that.

From this I'm taking that you think if the polar ice cap melts it will raise the sea level?

Where's the water going to go? Most of the ice in Antarctica and Greenland is now above sea level. Won't that run downhill to the ocean when it melts??

The polar ice cap is floating, it displaces the same amount of water in the form of ice as it does as water. If ice on land melts it would change the level, but it would have to be a huge land mass to effect the sea level. The ice in Antarctica is land ice but the average temp is -37 degrees.

Al I anticipated your reply. Meriam-webster dictionary, wikipedia, and the free dictionary all define polar ice cap as all the ice covering both polar regions whether it is over land or water. There is far more ice over land in Antartica and Greenland than sea ice near the poles. Even you admit ice melting from the land will raise sea levels. How fast that might happen is a whole different argument.

Antarctica average temperature is around -35 and the ice thickness is from 4000 to 15500 feet and most is on land. It's not going to melt before the next ice age. The Polar Cap is about 1.9 million sq miles up from 1.3 million in 2012. Greenland is 835,000 sq miles with 660,000 square miles of ice. If it gets hot enough to change the sea level, we won't have to worry about water, we'll cook. We can talk about this till were blue in the face, but until we can persuade China, India, and other bad polluters into doing something we are shoveling against the tide. Why isn't anyone concerned about the clear cutting of rain forests? They clean our air. Need to feed those McDonald burgers!
