Unusual joins up

Hello, I am Unusual. heh jokes

I am not unusual in a bad way. I am a unusual man in my 50's.

I have been interested in specialty cars since the Manta cars came around. My vehicles up to this point have all been quite utilitarian. It will be another unusual experience for me to own otherwise.

I am not a great mechanic. I used to be able to do general auto work under the shade tree back in the day, but at present with the hi-tech and tiny work spaces of vehicles, I don't do much. Also the arthritis in the hands tends to put me off. As far as participation in various mechanical aspects here, I imagine I will be largely an observer. The upside for me is that I have few mechanical problems with my daily drivers.

I am probably most interested in the SLC at this point. I have been mulling over and evaluating the GTM, possible the lola or the SLC realizing that the skills, work space and tools I possess are probably less than what is required.

I have a few dollars stashed away and have been considering making a purchase if and when the right deal comes along. On a thread on the gtm board, one person referred to those looking for a good deal and keeping in mind what the maket will bear as "thieves wanting to steal". That really put me off. Stealing is unethical and making a good deal is not imo.

I have to admit I am a tad conflicted about the possible purchase of one of these fine machines being too selfish on my part. I have children in their early 20's and own a modest home (along with the bank) and live with my wife of more than 2 decades. My finances are in order and controllable always.

I read the "turnkey SLC" may still be a work in progress. I am also unclear as to if there is a manual that comes with the purchase?

Probably getting a little beyond a introduction here. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I have some unusual threads to read here and unusual things to do today.

Unusual, welcome!
We guy's are all a bit unusual in that we (sort of) know what we want and go for it!
Having been down this road, I chose the SL-C. My reasons were modern chassis, LS engine choice, I'm using an inverted 930LSD gearbox (plenty strong). Looked at several GTM's in process as well as two finished ones first. Cost a little more but well worth every penny! IMHO...

mmm Thank you for the welcomes so far...

Post my real name? I can assure you that none of you know me from anywhere, anyplace or anytime. If perhaps we do get to know one another, I'll share my name on a individual basis. Oh .. also, I am simply unusual and from a humble background. Nothing special here other than being a common man.

FYI, I have no dog in any forum fights, vendettas or ulterior motives.

I'll respect your privacy as I expect you will respect mine. I trust that is not a unusual or unrealistic expectation.

Regards,

Unusual

HUH?
What is "private about a first name? I don't think it's unreasonable to ask what a persons name is? I don't think anyone is asking for your full name, social security number or address? why would you be so protective and not do us the courtesy of telling us your name?If you have no "ulterior motives" what have you got to hide? We can't make or expect you to tell us, it's just the decent thing to do. (forum rule No 2)

Simon

I had a female classmate in medical school with the first name: "9"!! Maybe his is "Unusual"?

Seriously, welcome to the forum.

Doc, err Larry, Kaler

I guess I will reply to Simon. I have designated the name I wish to use here. I wish to share no more than that. That said, I am a man and if you wish to aggressively pursue and harass me I will be certain to regard you as hostile and treat you as such. Pretty simple eh!

I don't need to be accepted by you here if it is status quo to attempt to run off members who don't cow tow to your expectations Simon. I posted a introduction in this forum simply as a politeness. There was no requirement to do so as there is no requirement for me comply with your demands.

Your mentality is quite interesting Simon in a sociological/psychological way. Your writing thus far appear to demonstrate unhealthy airs of fear, suspicion, a need to dominate, anger and small mindedness all because I choose to introduce myself, a complete and total stranger to you, as i have. So thanks again for the warm welcome and attempt to cyber bully me Simon. Is there a Ignore function on this board?

If there is some cyber gauntlet I am supposed to run here I doubt I'll hang around for the abuse. I do have other things to do some of which are unusual.

Regards,

Unusual

hummm I am required to post my real name on this forum ? I guess you may as well delete my membership administrator. I am sorry I didn't note that requirement when i registered. I used my real name in my email addie which I thought ought to be good enough as far as identifying myself to administrators. As far as the promotiion of products, I don't think this requirement/policy is good customer service.

Take Care now.

A terrible thing paranoia !

It seems manners are not compulsory!

troll anyone?:drunk:

Personally I think Ron does a damn fine job on running this forum for like minded people, While he and I may disagree about the odd thing now and again, he's in charge here and if people aren't man enough to stick to the rules.........

(Jeez, you'd think this bloke would just make up a name!)

OK, This is me a year or two ago. Do you know me? Of course not.

This is me after I cut my hair in sympathy with a family member with a grave illness. Do you know me yet? I figured not.

GT40s.com is an extremely international forum and we wish the forum content to be respectful of our multifaceted membership.
As you can tell, I am not the same nationality or race as you.. nor probably anyone else on this forum.

In short, don’t berate, belittle, or ridicule your fellow forum member. Offenders will find themselves banned.

It's obvious you're trying to flame me, to berate, to belittle to humiliate. Just what I'd expect from a ignorant, arrogant and abrasive Englishman.

Do you know me yet? You couldn't even pronounce my name if I told it to you!

I am,

Unusual - This is a kind of fraternity here, as well as a great technical resource. I, personally, don't really care what your background is or your ethnicity ( I'm part Welsh, with a minor part native American). All that is required is that you enjoy the forum and if you contribute,to respect others as they will you. I don't believe there's any underlying hostility here, so 'Welcome' and we look forward to the time when you start your own build. The SL-C is an excellent choice and you will get a lot of support from those already involved in building their own. I have been in both the GTM and the SL-C and you would find the SL-C roomier and easier to get in/out of,considering the arthritis( I can relate to this).

Unusual,

We don't give a 5hit what nationality or race you are, a nice guy is a nice guy, whatever the colour of you skin, race, nationality or religious persuasion, sadly though it seems you may not fall into that category

"Just what I'd expect from a ignorant, arrogant and abrasive Englishman. "

Who's making judgements based on my nationality now?

How's things in the troll world!
