I bought this bloc 4 years ago at fair price from a local racing dealer in the States. To be honest, I don't know exactly the right reference (I don't receive back from the dealer any document nor information). We can see in the front a small Ford logo (from casting) and in the starter side, the ref M-6010. However, it looks like extension of ref was milled and it is stamped 302RDI (see pictures). At the bell housing side, there is an other casting number : BBO19276 with a stamped P- below
As I am not a Ford specialist, I don't know if it is an old or recent block generation but according to the dusty layer when I bought it, it was not from the last issue :eek: . Any informations are welcome ;) .

This might be one of the Dry sump blocks, It is different then my, I'll have to find some part numbers, It looks like your as only a fitting for the oil filter and my blocks have the oil filter boss. (The RDI site has no numbers listed).

I also noticed the oil crossover in the lifter galley. I had one running from the back of the main feed to both of the front lifter areas. I ended up taking it off as the shop that set it up had is badly 'rigged' with copper pipe and loose fittings. I have not noticed any problems without it, will see on the next teardown.

Again, excellent motor!

252 area code is here in North Carolina where I live. This bit appears to be some sort of roller bearing cam eccentric. Question is, does it use a index hole or pin like the one on the right? I'm using a mechanical pump myself, and you can read about some of my issues with a cam gear that had no pin.

Yes Ron it use an index. Fortunately, my engine is dismantled and I do one picture to show the pin. But be careful, this part is not a "bolt on" type. I have spend some time on my lath to adapt it :rolleyes:

It's not listed, but when the day comes that I order an RCR 40, it will be powered by Ford's new Boss 302 block stroked to 331.
 
I am using Ford Windsor Stroker 408 it's working good.. Still I didn't get any major problem with this model engine
 
I was hoping my engine build would be done by now. Waiting for the collectors so the exhaust can be completed. Started out as 351W with 30 over and fresh rebuild. He forgot to tell it had been left out in the rain. Everything stripped and sold. Bored 60 over due to pitting, stroked and internally balanced to around 408(don't remember the stroke #s. Topped off with TWM 8 stack, comp cam and AFR 205s. Intake has been port matched to the heads. Should have some #s in about two weeks if no more delays.

351W with destrocked crank is a good way to have an high revs engine. As in Nascar configuration, you can use a 3.25 or 3.35 stroke crankshaft with long rods to produce a 330 or 340CI able to perform safely 8000rpm (without the 302 short rods problems). However, I don't understand why you propose a 302 manifold with spacers as an option?

Oi, I realized that I never responded (I think I started to, but forgot to finish, tried to
multitask, and probably quit my browser before finishing ...)

Anyway, from what I have read, the main problem with the 351W is breathing. Since the
heads are so much taller vs. the 302, typical hood clearances forced intakes designed
specifically for the 351W to be squashed, leading to poor airflow. A 302 intake with spacers
should, in theory, have better airflow. Of course, I could be wrong. And, new aftermarket
351W intakes might have corrected the issue. But, it would make for an interesting experiment.

I also would like to know about the filters. That is the motor I ALMOST went with...


But I've gone over to the dark side. My Heritage (oops, that should be heretic) colored RCR will be sporting an LS7 with Kinsler stack.
