R.C.R.40 movie cars...

I am really excited to say that we have a fleet of three RCR40's being used in a new feature film ...

Its currently being filmed and readied for release early 2011...

I have to check if I am allowed to say the name of the movie but
its one in a series of Five and they all feature fast cars and some crazy driving...:lipsrsealed:

I tried to persuade them they needed an SL-C in there too but they only wanted the 60's classic's...bummer...

and some Grand Sport Corvettes...hopefully they are treating the Panteras better than the 40's as they have been flying around rough desert roads...should make for some intersting viewing for us old car nuts...

Its a real treat to be able to fly the flag for the GT40....

Very cool, indeed. Wave the GT40 flag high.

Hopefully we won't have to watch any 40s get smashed up!

I had a childhood friend who somehow managed to wrangle himself into being the lead mechanic on the Batman movie that was shot is Chicago a couple of years ago. I thought that was pretty cool, too. His job was keeping all of those cars on the road each day for filming.

None from what I was told...I think all three cars are actually seen as one...and it lives...but it is Hollywood so anything could happen I guess....

Oh God no they aren't making another edition of "The Fast and the Furiously Stupid" are they?

3...2.....1....squish.T :(

On a semi-related note, I wish they'd bring back Fastlane. That show rocked - make the SLC the star of it though and you'd have a winner.

Alex,

Steve26 on the forum has a GT40 scratch build that utilised a body from a GT40 used in the Fastlane show...never saw the show myself...

The only episode that featured the GT40(in Gulf colors BTW) was the pilot, or first, episode and it met a violent end at the beginning of the show.

My guess is the movie is called "Gone in 10 seconds" being that they are stealing race cars and typically no keys or hot wiring are required.

And when they hit the "Naws" the car goes faster and parts fall out! One of the really stupid movie franchises. They talked to us about SPF GT40s, but didn't want to pay. I mean, I WOULD have taken their money, but the movies would STILL be lame!

I had the experience of supplying parts for the five 66 Thunderbirds used in "Thelma and Louise" and they were great people to work with....and they paid fast and didn't chisel! Often they would call after looking at dailies and need things like a power window switch assembly for the console because continuity noticed that the beauty shot car didn't have switches in some scenes. Not that there weren't a lot of issues with that production, like the glovebox that the gun comes out of does not exist on a 66 Bird or when they are loading luggage into the trunk....with the top down! Ever seen a 58-66 T-Bird top/trunk system? Not a lot of room when the toupe is stored!

Rick,
dont worry, they paid ...and they paid upfront...and they did not quibble...and they have bought much more since....probably for the same reason as your Tbird switch story.

They called on a Friday night wanting two more bodies shipped overnight....we made it happen but I think the shipping must have been almost as much as the parts.

I got a call at 10.30 on Sat. morning saying"Thanks" and that thay had arrived in Ca. and another call at 6.30pm saying that one body was already fitted and painted ready for the next days shooting.....
