But I really liked the little robots.
They did survive didn't they?
(Edit: And again, pray tell, what happened to the new ICE AGE "science" warned us was on the way in the 1970s unless we acted now, now, NOW [this past winter not withstanding!]? How did govts manage to avert THAT?)
Sorry Larry - there was no scientific basis to such a prediction. That was once again a half arsed story blown up by a media who are too lazy (or do not care) to check their sources.
I've told you before Larry that I do not believe that taxation is the best way forward. On that we agree.
(Edit: I ask again; how are we going to 'correct' variations in the tilt of the earth's axis and the number and intensity of "sun spots/storms"? No "warmer" seems willing to address that...)
...and the difference between THEN and NOW with regard to what you're saying is really what, exactly? Seriously. WHAT?
The modern-day science boys told us "global warming" was upon us...until - OOOPS! - someone actually started checking up on the boy's "facts" and discovered the earth hasn't warmed up at all in the past 17 years...not only that, but it was discovered many of the "findings" they had based their "conclusions" on were a total FRAUD. So the boys changed their 'shingle' out front to read "CLIMATE CHANGE" instead, and they started banging the drum on THAT. But, "Ice Age", "warming", or "climate change " - NO MATTER WHAT MAY or may not be happening, the "solution" will always be e-x-a-c-t-l-y the same: MORE GOVT DICTATES. More rules, more regulations, more LAWS, more "departments", more "committees" and "commissions", more govt employees, and, of COURSE - MORE TAX, TAX, TAX, SPEND, SPEND, SPEND - and more fines and penalties.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeup - THAT will fix everything muy dadgum pronto...and anyone who disagrees is a "flat earther"...ignorant...clueless...a dullard...not to mention stoooooooopid - as well as a "hater", and...blah, blah, blah...
Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Franklin, Hancock and the rest must be spinning at light speed...

Come on Larry, let's be real here. Take a look at the receding polar ice caps over the last 30 years.....it's dramatic. It clearly suggests a warming of both ocean temps and atmospheric temps. You don't need to believe me, just take a look at the pictures for yourself. Obviously, it's easy for a label of "global warming" to get applied to that phenomenon.
As it turns out, under further study by the smart folks, it's not just a matter of warming ocean temps and atmospheric temps as shown most clearly at the poles....it's a matter of changing climate patterns worldwide IN ADDITION to the obvious warming at the poles. This doesn't invalidate the initial observation of warming at the poles...it just adds further color to the total global-wide extent of the climatic changes. Pretty simple.

So, in answer to your question - the "warmists" are advocating doing something about things over which we at least have some small amount of control. What that something is, in my opinion, is open to debate. I think the way forward is education and developing new technologies. Slapping taxes on everything is a bit of a knee-jerk reaction in my view - a desire to be seen to be doing something

Not me...taxes and fines have been shown to be a very effective deterrent,
