SLC 001 Build

To my friends that insisted that I boost this engine, were are you when I have to squeeze some plumbing into some impossible little space?

What you see here is the blue upper water pump hose (of which the fitting has been relocated to the top of the pump) trying to find space below the SC intercooler coolant tank and behind the SC tensioner pulley. Ohhhh, I should'a put an electric water pump in this thing....way too late now though....

Wow....two posts in a row.

We could make some alum pipes again if you want? I think you will need to go through the forward chassis member with a 90 degree bulkhead AN fitting to get the radius of the turn as tight as you have it now but it's just another Saturday and a few more bucks.

I think the copper will last a long time but the galvanic thing..........well I just don't know how long it would take to be a problem?

He's got great friends Fran. We are all nuts like him!

On the dash of our SLCs:
I have looked all over the net, does anyone know of a carbon or brushed stainless version of the AC vent? I asked in the general interior section and got nothing but crickets...

I'm going to try and use the Audi TT dash vents from a Audi TT 2000 to 20006 as used by the GTM crowd. Only downside is they are a lot larger. My dash will be modified so I'm not limited by the smaller size vents that are used in the stock dash. Check them out on EBay Rob.

Thanks for the vent suggestions.

Current work has been to start the engine, been a bit of a challenge but working on it. Here are a few shots. During the process of cranking the engine over my Ricardo revealed a very small porosity defect in the tail casting, must have developed while it was on vacation from its last full time job.

Will be a milestone when it fires up.
Happy Father's day.

Hey Luke,
Thanks for taking the time to give me a tour of the inventory and the advice on what to check on my engine sensors. I will send you a text shortly.

I am very close to having a kart to terrorize my complex with, only being foiled by waiting for some custom made master to chassis brake lines. In the meantime I attacked one of the two main areas yet to be finished on the chassis (park brakes and intercoolers). Ordered calipers from IPSCO based on my near 13 inch rear rotors, since there are no brackets available to attach these to an older SLC chassis a solution was needed.

Come next week my poor neighbors won't know what hit them, maybe. If I'm lucky. But then luck has not been at my car building side much lately..

I'm excited for you Rob! Can't wait to see the video.

What size intercoolers are you using. I think I may have went too small...
