UN1 Rod Change Reverse Gear Lockout

Having had a look around without any luck, does anyone know where i can get a reverse gear lockout plate/mechanism. Reverse on mine is left and back. I have seen the Tornado cable mechanism, but would rather a selector guide plate incorporating a reverse gear latch of some form.

Any ideas?

Mick at Southern GT makes a cracking gear shift with lockout plate for the UN1 rod system, work of art.
i know. I have seen it :). But I have all the rod shift, etc. all I would like is the lockout plate to alleviate the problem.
~It is also "upside down".

Brian Magee made one on my car
Simple aluminium bent to follow sill shape
Hole cut in middle
And a lift over spring held gate

I’ll take pics

thanks Ian. That gives me some idea for something I might be able to knock up. Or have a chat to Brian.

Hi Richard,
I did mine as attached. The arm’s made of 1mm stainless and it slightly sprung so it locks under head of the fastener next to it
Regards,
Andy

Following the above.... Has anyone made a lift-up type lock out function, similar to those used on lots of modern cars?

This is mine - it's a UN-1, so same shift pattern as yours. I kept the overall look of the original GT40 lockout with a lift-up mechanism, though of course reverse is left-and-back on the UN1 instead of left-and-forwards like on the ZF-equipped cars. Still need to polish out the *machining marks, but I was just testing for fit, function and alignment.

*Getting a ot of tool chatter, even on the lightest of cuts, on my tiny Hobbymat/Prazimat milling machine. After 34 years, I think the spindle bearings are on their way out....!

That's a lot of machining there.

I have the same gearbox in my lotus europa and made this, inside on the left is a black nylon spring loaded block that stops the stick to go sideways, the little pin on the side can be pushed forward 1/2" the free the stick, when I go back to first the spring pushes the nylon block back into position. btw I can use the stick and the pin with 1 hand
