So what's the story on Michel Boeri? (Quick Google search isn't too informative - so far anyway)

Is Ecclestone even stronger now or is this the beginning of the end (please!)?

Will the FIA become more benign now or will it just grow another head?

I think he (Boeri) could just be a caretaker from the FIA offices in Paris.
Power Struggle? Probably not because the FIA do not own F1 - Bernie does.
Mosely worked as President for the FIA and it was him who drew up the Concorde Agreement.

Is Max finally out?

Times Online

It appears so.

When in Monaco I was fortunate to be able to have a chat with David Coulthard,(name dropping I know, sorry) I asked him his opinion on the situation. He was full of praise for wee Bernie and made the comment that he was "indispensable to F1". When I asked him about Max he diplomatically gave a non committal answer and steered the conversation in a different direction.
With Max gone I think things can be worked out to the satisfaction of all.

It appears as though FOTA has won. I wonder if they have.

Whoever the next president of the FIA is they will have to rebuild its reputation. If its Jean Todt, I fear another Ferrari stitch up.

Ron Dennis for president anyone?

..will not be surprised if Montezemolo would be the new Mosley in that reality show.
It is really all so far away from the motorsport I like...

I honestly dont think Max Mosley was so bad in the position he had.

Only the last year for him was full of trouble, ending with the tragedy of his son, but I think a lot of the past motorsport was good cause him (wasnt him the first allowing a young Ronnie Peterson to win in Monza with a private car?).wasnt even him giving opportunity both to Andretti and Regazzoni?

Not so bad at all..and If I am not wrong he was also a decent formula 2 driver.

I personally dont care if he likes hookers, but that anyway evidences the trouble he had in his life.
Sad for him,I really dont think the new upcoming staff will be better.

If anyone remembers Balestre they will know that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely, they all become self designated dictators who have to be brought down in the end. Mosley got rid of Balestre, now Mosley has gone the next incumbant will slip into the same mould given time !

Max Mosley has written to FOTA President Luca di Montezemolo saying that he is reconsidering his decision to stand down as FIA President in October. In a letter leaked to the media he said that he has decided on this course of action because of FOTA's "deliberate attempt to mislead the media" after the deal was struck on Wednesday, regarding the role of Michel Boeri, the president of the FIA Senate, who was initially rumoured to be taking over all F1 negotiations for the FIA.
That rumour was quickly dispelled and no-one is now seriously suggesting that anyone other than Mosley is at the helm for the next three months.
The effect of Mosley's letter is that the hearts of F1 fans all over the world will sink again. There was joy on Wednesday that the sport's problems were settled. Now these hopes appear to have been dashed again.
Mosley is obviously upset by the interpretation in some sections of the media that the settlement with FOTA was a major political defeat for him, arguing that he achieved what he wanted. This is true, but only up to a point. The fact remains that much of dispute was settled before the Wednesday meeting and that the real sticking point was the question of governance and, from FOTA's point of view, the presence of Mosley himself. What happened behind closed doors in Paris on Wednesday remains secret but after the meeting Mosley said he would not seek re-election. That seems to have been enough for the problems to have been solved. Now the problem is likely to be revived.
If there was a problem with what was said after the World Council, it would have been wiser if the FIA rather than Mosley himself had written to FOTA. By doing it himself Mosley will underline the perception that he thinks of himself as the FIA. He may not like that interpretation, but that is very much how it is seen in the F1 world, and by fans across the world.
What is needed in F1 is peace and sensible discussion about the future and with his attitude - based on this occasion on what appears to be a personal matter - Mosley is threatening the equilibrium of the sport again. It does not ultimately matter how Mosley is viewed by the wider world (in any case, he would probably not wish to hear what many people think after last year's sex scandal). What is important is how the FIA is viewed. Its job is to protect the sport and by calling the Paris deal into question Mosley is throwing F1 into turmoil once again.
The threat of a renewed breakaway, if it comes, will put the ball back into the FIA court once again. The last deal seemed to have been sorted out without much FIA involvement, beyond rubber-stamping the back room settlement agreed by Mosley, Montezemolo and Bernie Ecclestone. This sadly underlined the impression that the FIA is a weak body, unwilling to do anything that would upset its principal. It remains unlikely that the FIA will do anything to remove Mosley from office.
That would in any case require a General Assembly, a process which would take several months. By the time that happens it will be almost time for the regular annual meeting at which there will be the election for the FIA President. This means that unless he relents and agrees to be bound by the deal struck in Paris, the sport's agonies will be prolonged.
If the dispute does revives, there will be no doubt about the key issue. There will be no hiding behind budget caps. If the presence of Mosley as FIA President was only one issue beforehand, it will now become the central question.
Mosley says, quite rightly, that he is still president of the FIA with "the full authority of that office" and that it is up to the FIA to decide on who leads the federation. This is all true but the FOTA reaction to the letter will probably take us back to where we were before the FIA World Council meeting on Wednesday with the FOTA teams once again turning their back on the FIA and heading off to create their own World Championship. One cannot imagine that they will risk ignoring his threat to stand again.
If the FOTA teams say they are breaking away again then the FIA will once again be faced with the decision of whether it wishes to destroy Formula 1 to keep its president or whether it is wiser to accept that he has gone too far and gently remove him from office and get on with the more important business of running the sport. It is very clear that FOTA does not wish to replace the FIA as its sanctioning body. This has been said over and over again, but the problem is with Mosley's management style. Although the FIA is a long-established institution, and has some influence in areas beyond the sport, its fundamental relevance and value comes from its sporting involvement. The F1 World Championship is key to that. The other FIA World Championships are there but are of little importance in the overall scheme of things. Protecting the integrity of the FIA is thus the key point for the federation and it is a clear choice of whether Mosley stays or goes.
The other sad point that must be made is that the letter creates the impression that Mosley is clutching at straws to claw his way back.

Hi all,
I am leaving for Paris on the 4th of July, and will make it over to the German F1 at the Nurburgring on Thursday July 9th. I plan to be there for the Friday practice, Saturday qualifying, and the race on Sunday. My seats are in the Mercedes-Benz stands, down from the start-finish line. My question is, will any one else from this site be there?
Regards
Grady

Jean Todt, rumoured to be a potential candidate for the FIA presidency in October - if Max Mosley does not stand - has been in the newspapers in Malaysia in recent days as the result of a planned payment of $411,000 from the government for him to act as a tourism ambassador. Todt landed the cash because he is currently partnered with former beauty queen Michelle Yeoh, who was Miss Malaysia and a contestant in the Miss World pageant 26 years ago. She went to appear in several adverts with local legend Jackie Chan and then tried her hand at films, making martial arts films before getting her big chance in 1997 in the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies, alongside Pierce Brosnan. She enjoyed some success in 2005 with Memoirs of a Geisha. As Malaysia's biggest film star she obviously has some profile at home but the news that Todt is being paid as a tourism ambassador caused controversy in Kuala Lumpur.
Member of Parliament Azmin Ali claimed during question time that in addition to the payments Todt and Yeoh were given a piece of the land in Terengganu to promote an island, as a way to boost the tourism industry. He has also claimed that the money is little more than a way to fund Todt's holiday expenses.
Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said Todt was acting as a volunteer to promote Malaysia and had been allocated a two-year budget for this purpose.
"The financing for Todt for him to act as Malaysia’s tourism ambassador is not for his own pocket," the minister argued. "It’s the ministry’s money. He doesn’t get a cent for his personal use. He is given a budget whenever he travels to meet people overseas."
It will be interesting to see if Malaysia's tourist numbers continue to fall or whether a rather unglamorous 63-year-old Frenchman will reverse the trend and have a major effect on the holiday plans of the tourist classes of Europe.

$411K for partnering a former Miss World contestant, Onya Toddy!

Alonso and Vettel ? IMHO, unlikely pairing and possibly a similarity to the situation Alonso / Hamilton in McLaren. In the same machinery Vettel would wipe the floor with him anyway so Alonso must be happy it won't be Vettel for this announcement to be released. I think the iceman, him with the squeaky voice, has melted down and lost whatever he had in the first place and will be given his fare home as a Christmas present.

And still, somehow, it won't be enough to discard him...

We shouldn't be surprised at any of this. I wouldn't be surprised if it was discovered that he was tied up in Halliburton... ;) (not necessarily in the same way Max would be of course... ;) )

1) Dictators are always in favour of dictatorships... (Unless they want what the other guy's got.)

2) The guy makes billions of dollars from others risking their lives.

Simple. FOTA - Nike!

Well, it has to be true, because it was in the Daily Mail.:lipsrsealed: I hope the little fella was mis-quoted or taken out of context. If not, it's just sad to see a brilliant mind losing the plot.

Re his comment that F1 needs a black Jewish girl.....What religion is Lewis?
