Apparently Max has told the teams, to go form their own series if they don't like the FIA's new rules.
His My way or the highway type attitude sucks IMHO.

I admit to having lived under a rock and being a casual observer to F1, but (and meaning no disrespect to Jensen Button) how the heck did the Braun team managed to be so dominant??? Did all the turmoil of the off season handcuff McLaren??? Is Ferrari THAT far behind the engineering curve???

In my view, firstly Honda put a massive amount of money into developing the 09 car, which they started doing in early in 2008 when it became apparent that the 08 car was a dog.

Secondly, Ross Brawn's expertise has kicked in after a year or so keeping a low profile and as one of the sports most talented engineers, his influence is very much in the 09 car whereas it wasn't in the 08.

Thirdly, Brawn has 2 of the most experienced drivers in F1. I don't think JB is a gifted driver but he has finally found a car that suits his style and even Ross Brawn is astounded.

Fourth, the ban on in-season testing places a special focus on getting it right, out of the box... as in Brawn. :)

Fifth, and probably the most telling is that it's not so much the "Brawn Supremacy" as the other leading teams getting it very wrong, both in design and strategy. If Ferrari, Mclaren, Toyota and BMW hadn't screwed up so badly, then JB would likely be fighting in the top ten not the top 3 (not wishing to denigrate his achievements to date).

Personally, it's good to see new names up there - Webber, Vettel, Rosberg etc and it is especially gratifying that Frank Williams is enjoying a bit of a comeback despite his budget limitations. I rather think BMW will be rueing their split with Frank and it doesn't seem believable now that even when he was winning races in F1, he was running Williams Grand Prix from a public phone box because his business phone had been cut off!

One of the really fascinating aspects of the sport is how underfunded teams often outperform even the best funded efforts and this, to me, is the unique challenge that F1 presents. Anyone can spend £250 mil a year on a losing car but it takes a special kind of genius to spend half that and be better.

No wonder the big names in FOTA don't like the idea of the budget cap. I'm sure they would (will?) probably be extremely embarrassed if a £40 mil team whupped their sorry asses...

Remember when they were proposing that the Championship be decided on who won the most races?

Jenson could have sat out the rest of the season because I doubt that anyone else will win more than 6 races this year if he did.....

Red Bull. Brawn, Red Bull...

GO MARK!! Go Silverstone!... Lewis's new bird could feature in the Dilemma thread?.....Bernie will win?.....

if there's no testing of cars between events presumably hamilton and kov. are stuck with crap cars all season as there can be no development of a new car?? Or is it allowable to build a new design and test it during the racing season as honda did last year??

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></IGNORE><!-- /photo -->Rumours that plans for FOTA's breakaway championship are moving forwards abounded on Sunday.

In the paddock of the Silverstone circuit, even a possible name for the series emerged - 'New Formula' - as well as a potential 17-race 2010 calendar.

Former F1 venues including Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Jerez, Imola, Montreal, Indianapolis, Silverstone, Magny Cours and Adelaide were listed on the theoretical calendar, published by the German news agency SID.

Current tracks were also mentioned: Monaco, Silverstone, Monza, Abu Dhabi, Singapore and Suzuka, while potential new venues are Jerez, Portimao, the Lausitzring, Surfer's Paradise and even the Finnish capital Helsinki.

But while some suggest that F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone is moving towards the rebel team's plans, he told Britain's Daily Star newspaper on Sunday that he fears for the breakaway.

Despite earlier sympathising with the teams' dislike of the proposed budget cap, he now believes unfettered spending "could be the curse of our sport.”

"It could ruin it. It would be a disaster and they'd destroy the sport," he said.

"I would hate to see any kind of takeover happen because it would be badly managed. <TABLE borderColor=#ffffff cellSpacing=5 cellPadding=0 align=left border=0><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top align=middle><TABLE cellSpacing=2 align=center><TBODY><TR><TD><!-- begin ad tag (tile=2) --><SCRIPT language=JavaScript type=text/javascript>document.write('<script language="JavaScript" src="http://ad.doubleclick.net/adj/RL_F1_News/;tile=2;sz=300x250;ord=' + ord + '?" type="text/javascript"><\/script>');</SCRIPT><SCRIPT language=JavaScript src="http://ad.doubleclick.net/adj/RL_F1_News/;tile=2;sz=300x250;ord=3138729154914607?" type=text/javascript></SCRIPT><NOSCRIPT></NOSCRIPT><!-- End ad tag --></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>They can't even run their own teams. They can't agree on anything. If the teams owned it they would destroy it," Ecclestone added.

He also scoffed at the leaked FOTA calendar, wondering how the body can compete with the structure operated by his businesses.

"We organise the venues which don't cost the teams a penny," said Ecclestone. "I reckon Ferrari and McLaren need us more than we need them.

"All they have to do is pitch up at a track with their sponsors' names all over their cars in exchange for millions of quid and race in front of a worldwide television audience - which I have set up and keep going.

"The bottom line is they can't afford to set up a rival championship," he added.

Sorry Ron :o:o:o I could not delete the ad for Moto Gp. Nor could I delete the post entirely.
All I managed was to duplicate it... I'm losing my touch.

Huh? Must have missed something...

As for Bernies rant:-

Audience - you know what, you may be right. Every time I make the effort to try to watch F1 I feel as if I've been set up.
Here's one viewer who will return to regularly watching a sport missed now for many years.

Venues - I'm sure they'll organise themselves pretty well, they may even manage to make a little money out of it...

"It could ruin it. It would be a disaster and they'd destroy the sport,"
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
THAT my friends is irony!

There would be no rivalry, who the hell is interested in Formula one-engine?

TV and venues etc all seem to be organised by others pretty well, so just go away, and take Max with you.

Tim.

One down, one to go... Maybe... I wonder if it's a core promise... (one for the Australians)

This was a great opportunity I think. Wasted. The climate was right to get rid of all the old shackles, I think "Bernies" audience would have migrated happily.

Tim. How can you tell when a politician is lying/breaking a promise? Their lips move... (Old but true)

Looks like Mosely has gone already. Officially to go in October but he's been replaced by a Michael Boeri already. He'll (Mosely) be back to the basement flat tonight for a good old going over.
