F1 2009

Here is a scenario,
Ticket sales for Valencia are slow.
M.S. Announces his comeback.
Ticket sales for Valencia take off!
M.S. is ruled out for medical reasons.
The fans are disappointed, but the tickets are sold and Bernie is happy...

He announced it a little early for my scenario though, Pit Pass reckon it will now hurt ticket sales.
Freewheel, I'll give you my tips for the Melbourne cup closer to the day.

We haven't heard the last of MS and driving for Ferrari. Maybe not in Spain but it will happen sooner or later. It's too much of a drama for him - making a comeback - and the seed has been sown now. Ferraris PR machine will run with it for a long time.

Button has had enough of his Veyron. Thats a Bugatti for the non nerds. He's selling it on Auto Trader for $1.5m. It's got a built in phone, sound system, nice seats. So has my daughters Clio.

$1.5m? He wishes.......

Silly cnut.

Montreal is back from 2010.
The price that Bernie is accepting is $75m for a five year deal.
Before he was asking $175m. Wow - is he eating recession humble pie
or have the teams got to him because they like a bevvy in the Chez Paris in Montreal ??
Remember Bernie? the little guy, the vertically challenged midget
of the F1 world - who lives on his own in London. His incredibly tall wife left him
- probably for somebody with more length - sorry - I mean somebody taller.

I would hazard a guess, that ladies like the Tall one are more interested in the size of ones wallet than either stature or appendages!
Now she has divested Bernard of a small fortune she will be on the prowl for
some other near geriatric with a huge blue veined throbbing bank account.

Some leaked idle chat which will be made public tomorrow.
Renault will race in Valencia. There may yet be some discussion on what , if any ,
points they may win in Valencia but that should be made public on Tuesday midday.
I stress this is from 'idle chat' though also from a good source.

The International Court of Appeal has overturned the decision of the FIA Stewards in Hungary, replacing a one-race ban with a fine of $50,000. In Formula 1 terms this is nothing at all.
Renault admitted to the Court that it breached the FIA Sporting Regulations, in that it failed to ensure that Fernando Alonso complied with the conditions for safety throughout practice and the race, and that it released the car after a pit stop when it was unsafe to do so. However, it requested the court to reconsider the severity of the sanction imposed by the stewards.
The reasons for this decision will be published in a full judgment in the coming days.

IMHO ticket sales have a lot to do with it!

Molleur - it looks as thought the fine of $50k is the sum total of the judgement so the discussion about points would not be valid. It's either or.....

We shall see what other silly "penalties" may be levied on other teams after Valencia in the feeble attempt to level the competition...

Indeed - no doubt, it is becoming ludicrous. I think the next race I might bother to watch will be Spa. Then again if it's a nice day I might just take out the large kite.

Renault F1 has announced that Swiss-French driver Romain Grosjean has been appointed as its second driver for this weekend’s European Grand Prix in Valencia and for the remainder of the 2009 season. The 23-year-old has been part of Renault’s Driver Development programme (RDD) since 2006 after winning the French Formula Renault title. In 2007 he was Formula 3 Euro Series champion and in 2008 he won the GP2 Asia Series. This season he has been racing in GP2 but has been very inconsistent, winning two races early on but off the pace since then. Lucas Di Grassi will assume third driver duties in Valencia whilst continuing with his GP2 series campaign.
