If you are booked in at the Premier Inn next weekend ( behind the Green Man close to Silverstone)you had best take a tent. This hotel is no more. It was burned down
and two men have been arrested in connection with the fire. What a time to do such a stupid thing.....

Hi David,
I hope you were not booked in at that hotel!
I remember having a beer in the Green Man with the Ferrari mechanics in the late 60s. That is where they stayed, those were the days, but nostalgia is not what it used to be.:uneasy:

That is very sad. I have stayed there a number of times as it is very convenient for Silverstone. They are also very relaxed about trailers being parked in their car park and occupying several car spaces. Hope it is rebuilt.

Sir Frank Williams has handed over the chairmanship of Williams Grand Prix Engineering to current chief executive officer, Adam Parr.
As Williams called a press conference at Silverstone to announce the switch, many F1 stalwarts thought that 31 years on from Clay Regazzoni's historic first Williams win at the same circuit, Frank was preparing to end an era and step down. The team owner, however, rapidly allayed any such fears.
"I'm not stepping back, it's not in my mind," Williams said. "There's nothing else I want to do until I pop my clogs!
"Adam joined in 2006 as CEO. He has taken the lead in putting the team on a stronger financial footing, developing new businesses and building our social responsibility programme. These initiatives have seen us partnering with such outstanding organisations as Porsche and Cambridge University Press, respectively in hybrid technology and education. I have now asked him to step up to chairman in my place to give him both the responsibility and the authority to ensure the good aspects of the team and the company."
Parr said that seeking a shareholding in the team is "not on my agenda" and confirmed that Sir Frank remains the controlling shareholder and team principal, "and will always be the name, face and inspiration of this team."

Quite an amazing and inspirational individual. I cannot begin to imagine how he faces each and every day with such an incredible handicap.

Roger that and Amen David.. the original racer and probably best known (by Enzo) as a “Garagista” although Ron might dispute that.

From a phone box he achieved far more than almost anyone in the sport and following his car accident which left him a quadriplegic, he never gave up.

As David said, inspirational - a hard act to follow and an icon in F1 unfortunately, given todays judgements - an also ran but to me, always a hero.. :)

Most entertaining race of the season! Once I saw Weber gracefully repel Vettel's start-line antics, I was glued for the rest of the race. As much as I want to ignore Alonso, I had to feel he was bent over on the call by the stewards.
