That's right. As I pointed out, there is a debate amongst historians as to whether the Soviets could have prevailed without Lend/Lease and other material aid.

The early opinion of both the US and some Soviet officials was no. More detailed studies, including by the CIA, in the 80s/90s/00s was the may have been able to do so.

Regardless it was SOVIET men, tactics, organization, will, etc. that were the primary reason Hitler was defeated.

Why is this hard? This is basic historical fact.

So John Brennan, ex-CIA director and long time national security public servant under Presidents Clinton, Bush and Obama, writes this about the President a few days ago:

When the full extent of your venality, moral turpitude, and political corruption becomes known, you will take your rightful place as a disgraced demagogue in the dustbin of history. You may scapegoat Andy McCabe, but you will not destroy America...America will triumph over you.

Brennan is a serious man, not prone to hyperbole. That is quite possibly the single most eye popping statement any former national security official has ever said about a sitting President.

It is clear to me that he perceives Trump as a threat to democracy, and that the intelligence community has information on Trump establishing that he has committed serious crimes in the past.

America will triumph.

If some low level flunky at the Department of the INterior had said this about President Obama, the right wing squadron here would have had a circle jerk of epic proportions.

Indeed Al...
As a country, we’ve come to the aid of so many.... I shudder to think what would have happened to Europe had the Allied forces not stopped Hitler!

You've got your history a bit skewed there Mr. Foot. While the US certainly played a significant role in winning the war in Europe, it was the Soviets who beat Hitler.

80 Soviet soldiers died in WWII for every 1 American solider who died.

26 million civilian Soviet casualties, something like 20 in the US. 11 million dead military, 500,000 in the US.

3/4 of all German wartime losses were on the Eastern Front.

Generally 70-80% of German military strength was concentrated on the Eastern Front.

The US certainly provided many of the war materials the Soviets needed, but the Soviets beat Hitler. And possibly could have done it on their own.

This is just a statement of fact. It doesn't mean I think Stalin was a great guy (he wasn't). It doesn't mean I hate America (I don't). These are just facts and what is being stated above is a regurgitation of a misconception that a lot of Americans have about the war.

Doesn’t take much to get your train rolling down the wrong tracks it would appear...
What did I say that was wrong?
Check your definition of Allied Forces here:

Allies and Axis: Who's Who in WWII? | The National WWII Museum Blog

The main Allied powers were Great Britain, The United States, China, and the Soviet Union. The leaders of the Allies were Franklin Roosevelt (the United States), Winston Churchill (Great Britain), and Joseph Stalin (the Soviet Union).

California is going to continue unfunded liabilities (ridiculous state and city retirement plans etc.) and go sliding into the Pacific with bankruptcy and expect to be bailed out. The tax burden is going to get worse and very few will be able to afford it. Too bad, CA is a beautiful state.

"Sliding into the Pacific"?

There's simply no other place in the world I'd rather be than California, with the 6th largest economy in the world, 6 of the top 50 colleges in the US, and the best weather. Puh-leeze, 138,000 people moved out of 40,000,000. If you can't afford it, you can't afford it.

"Palmer said when including tax collections per $100 of personal income, though, California ranks number 10 nationwide, based on 2015 state and local revenue data tracked by the Federation of Tax Administrators. Minnesota, New York, New Jersey and North Dakota all come in higher in terms of tax burdens."

I expect in the next few weeks, I'll be taking a trip down Highway 1 to visit cities like Santa Cruz, Monterey/Carmel, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and maybe even do a little surfing at Huntington and Laguna beaches.

Lt. Col. Ralph Peters (US Army, ret.) denounced Fox News in an email to colleagues, which was obtained by Buzzfeed.

“Four decades ago, I took an oath as a newly commissioned officer. I swore to ‘support and defend the Constitution,’ and that oath did not expire when I took off my uniform,” he reminded. “Today, I feel that Fox News is assaulting our constitutional order and the rule of law, while fostering corrosive and unjustified paranoia among viewers.”

“Over my decade with Fox, I long was proud of the association,” Peters noted. “Now I am ashamed.”

“In my view, Fox has degenerated from providing a legitimate and much-needed outlet for conservative voices to a mere propaganda machine for a destructive and ethically ruinous administration,” he continued. “When prime-time hosts–who have never served our country in any capacity–dismiss facts and empirical reality to launch profoundly dishonest assaults on the FBI, the Justice Department, the courts, the intelligence community (in which I served) and, not least, a model public servant and genuine war hero such as Robert Mueller–all the while scaremongering with lurid warnings of ‘deep-state’ machinations– I cannot be part of the same organization, even at a remove.”

“To me, Fox News is now wittingly harming our system of government for profit,” he concluded.

The former Foreign Area Officer also referenced his specialization in the former Soviet Union.

“As an intelligence professional, I can tell you that the Steele dossier rings true–that’s how the Russians do things,” he noted. “The result is that we have an American president who is terrified of his counterpart in Moscow.” (bolding mine)

You've made some stupid posts before -- the "hmm...does Hillary have Parkinson's" straight from the Russian troll factory one near the top -- but this one might take the cake.

Who said anything about CNN? This is a retired serviceman, and officer, former intelligence officer and TEN YEAR FOX NEWS contributor saying this about your font of all knowledge.

You might want to pay attention, lest you get used like a Russian puppet again.

I can totally understand.

I love that I can always go back and point to the Political thread of GT40s.com as ACTUAL EVIDENCE of Russian meddling in the election.

I remember when Randy posted that Hillary has Parkinson's nonsense and then defended it for weeks. Just like his Russian puppetmasters wanted him to do!

"DO NOT CONGRATULATE" THE DICTATOR.

All caps on his briefing card and Comrade Trump congratuates Putin for his election win anyway.

This is how Comrade Trump gets a reputation as a moron, he simply can't read simple instructions.

First off - I never posted that Hillary had Parkinsons disease. There was a Fake News thread (that no one knew was fake at the time) that alluded to the possibility. I posted a link to it and called it interesting. That’s it.
If you want to keep poking this bear (me), you will be banned. Period. I don’t make enough salary to take stuff like that from you or anyone else.
So stop now while you still have one foot in the game and we will move along.

I doubt that, Rod...I'd bet he just doesn't like to read. If he really can't, who lets an aide send him ANY printed material?

I firmly believe that Trump really believes that "alienating" the Russians could cost America in some manner and that is why he's trying to maintain contact with Putin rather than following the directions on a card telling him that he shouldn't do what he wants to do. He IS an egomaniac, after all, and will do ANYTHING to make himself look good...or at least feel like he has made himself look good. THAT is what he cares about, not whether he did something that the "card" said not to do...IF he took time to read the card (it's hard to believe that he cannot read...he has been entirely too successful for that to be true...but he DOES have financial resources that would make it unnecessary for him to read anything if he wanted to trust some clown assistant to read it right).

Now, on the other hand, if he doesn't need to have someone read things to him, he's just going renegade on us, plain and simple. His own words: "Hey, I'm the President, right?"!!!

He thinks he can get away with anything.

He's a dolt...but probably would not qualify as a moron IF as a profession we were still quoting those categories of mental retardation (idiot, moron, and imbecile)...not that "dolt" would ever have been a category. I would not expect politicians to know correct (albeit outdated) psychometric terminology, though...

Cheers!

I'm going to continue to use the Parkinson's bull**** - and that is what it was and you lapped it right up -- as a teaching tool. It's the perfect example of Russians using good Americans -- you -- to stir up s*** and to influence our elections.

If you ban me for bringing up a perfect, real world, directly on point example that HAPPENED HERE IN THIS THREAD, you are simply doing the Russians job for them. Again.

Think on that. I don't care what you get paid or don't get paid, you're an American. Act like one.

Doug, do you really believe that Comrade Trump acts the way he does with Putin and Russia because he thinks "alienating" the Russians could "cost America" in some manner? Really?

Pure and simple, either: 1) Russia has a sex tape of Comrade Trump, which wouldn't surprise anyone at this point since he's being sued by a porn star and a Playboy Playmate, OR 2) Comrade Trump has financial investments/obligations/entanglements in Russia. One way or another, he's being blackmailed. That's why he acts the way he does (sucks up to) towards Russia. That's why Mueller has subpoenaed financial transactions of the Trump organization.

"Cost America" something? Comrade Trump thinks of himself only, he doesn't give a crap about America. I can't wait until this nimnuts is gone.

IMPEACHMENT 2019!

He may be a perfect example of "Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it!"

Rod, I think Trump really believes that by catering to the Russians in general, and Putin in particular, that it will ingratiate him to the Russians and that he may be able to influence their actions. If he butts heads with them, it won't increase their motivation to cooperate.

I didn't say I think Trump's right...Putin is a snake, a spider...a predator who has "empty eyes" because he has no soul. What is that old saying...something like "Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer"? Trump may be trying to do that, but he's' just barking up the wrong tree, IMHO.

...that would make this just one more in a long line of failures to use good judgement. Russia may have something on Trump, I don't know, but it wouldn't be unlike them to have hidden cameras all over the place when Trump goes to Russia (and did in the past), so who knows what they may have? Video of the golden showers? Wouldn't Melania love to get hold of those!

Cheers!

Doug
