Sorry for the continuing thread drift but this is more fun than arguing about guns.

Extra doggie treat are you joking

My wife,

Going out I'll give Stan a treat.

Coming in I'll give Stan a treat.

It's raining I'll give Stan a treat.

The sun is shining I'll give Stan a treat.

Were going out again I'll give Stan a treat and put the light on as it's dark and he might get scared, and I'll put the telly on so he doesn't get lonely.

I'm going out I've given Stan his tea fluffed up his blanket and bed given him a walk and a brush, you will have to get your own tea didn't have time to do it.

Don't get me wrong it's not all bad, since the rabbits died a number of years ago I moved up two places in importance although I will always be behind Stan and the rockery, and no matter what Stan is always pleased to see me :)

Bit like this really

LMBO!!!!!!!! 'Love it! 'Guess I shudda known!!!:thumbsup:

('Vid was good too!)

What would you guys make of this in the states? Would they just have been shot?

Businessman on trial accused of using unreasonable force on thieves raiding his property | Mail Online

Honestly, Bob, I have no c-l-u-e what would happen in a case like this as far as the outcome over here. It'd depend on which state something like this happened. I can tell you that in TEXAS the two perps would be the only ones facing charges.

But, as to being SHOT - yeeeeeeeeeeew darned betcha the perp with the club (or whatever he was swinging at the businessman) very well might end up shot over here in a case like this - and deservedly so. After all, there's no difference in the degree of 'dead' between someone killed with a bat, a knife, or whatever, vs. a gun. Anyone attacked by someone with any deadly weapon has the right to defend himself with deadly force.

Buuuuuut, again...whether every state, every prosecutor, and every jury all over the U.S. would in practice see it that way these days I just don't know. The ARE NO 'absolutes' over here anymore.

Well, in my opinion the Judge who only fined the bastards £75.00 should be sacked.
Hopefully the prosecutor will not pursue the matter.
The problem is the bloke who was robbed if it is taken to caught, will hopefully not get convicted by any jury, but the cost of defending himself will probably send the poor bugga broke.

Thats the problem in todays society Pete. I know several folks that carry concealed weapons and have more than $1,500,000. in legal insurance, at a high premium "just in case". Not a bad idea for those EDC people.

I'm surprised this woman wasn't arrested for discharging a firearm within the city limits...given all the goofy gun laws around these days:

California homeowner foils home invasion attempt by firing shotgun, police say | Fox News

I'm even MORE surprised that her successful use of a GUN in defense of both herself and her mother actually was noted in the media. Doing that soooooooo flies in the face of their usual anti-gun mantra...especially when neither perp was harmed in the use thereof! 'Terrible news for the anti-gun crowd!

So, IS the right to bear arms outdated?

I really am amazed when I hear someone say that if their home was "invaded" they would just give the bad guys what they want. In many cases they also rape the wives and daughters and beat the men or kill everyone. But I guess in thinking that the bad guys are going to leave peaceably when given what they want, the other doesn't enter the mind. The thing to remember is, not one person on this site would break into someone's home, but the people that would are operating in a totally different mental mindset, and raping your wife and or daughter while you watch is definitely not out of the question. The question is, would you rather be armed and stop this before it happens, or watch helplessly?
