Thank you for sharing these with us

When we spoke some while ago regarding header tanks I wrongly assumed your massed collection of parts was for a MK1 !

I shall follow this thread with interest.

Karl,
Cheers for that , I was glad to help.
A considerable amount of the parts were the same on the MK1, II, III's and Mirages. The tubs were essentially the same arrangement with modifications. For example, the Mirage tub had a different front scuttle which was squared off, omitting the scallop. Chassis 1074-1076 were Mirage tubs and set up like this.

A rear caliper on one of the original cars in the workshop and my new old stock pair just delivered.
These are needed for FIA and Heritage racing approval

Fitting the rear bulkhead next week and anxiously awaiting the panels.
In the meantime we are adding the engine support haunches.
These two fabrications are OEM parts again ~ much better than converting drawings to metal.

re: Jimmymac & Alistair's Cars

James, what kind of calipers are the originals there? Girling? Ate? Used on other vehicles of the period? Are they alloy or steel? Is the removable back for cleaning the bore and puck, or, just a necessity for machining the bore?

Thanks.

re: Jimmymac & Alistair's Cars

Cliff,
They were Girlings and the screw plug was a cap on the centre-boring through the two sides for the cylinders.
I have another old pair somewhere with pignose plugs but the calipers are the same.
They are alloy and were used on a few other cars of the period before the 4 pots and ventilated discs came in. The photos below shows the later 4-pot Gulf calipers

I've been playing in my sand pit again this weekend.
Some more pedal boxes and R/H gear shift brackets, and very contented with the results. Heat treated L169 alloy.

Trial Fitting a roof and bulkhead.
Accuracy prevails, I don't think that jig is going to move anywhere !

First pop at a fuel cap "during Ray's tea-break"
Also shown are the patterns which I made for a seven-bolt ZF bellhousing. The boxes were made and poured this weekend and the first castings are in the oven this evening.

Tom,
These pieces will not be sold individually as we are trying to concentrate our efforts on the tubs for the moment.
You have PM however.

The bellhousings turned out nicely. My shrinkage calcs were exact and no dressing has been done yet (They don't require any).
One more problem solved so I hope the guys like them....
I am starting on the 4-bolt version this weekend

re: Jimmymac & Alistair's Cars

Nice work as always James. I have just got back from a visit to Mirage to talk about the modifications needed to replicate those done by Ford on the MK.II.

It was good to see all the monos lined up there, (the rear bulkhead construction is well underway), Also I noticed that the cars under build are ALL of a slightly different specification depending on which car/era of GT40 is being modelled. That is what I call attention to detail!

Photos in a bit when I have downloaded the camera.

Cheers

Craig
