Knock Out Punches!

craik, you've provided quotes from the kind of people that have gotten into your head, and rule your thought process.

Anything I say will be twisted into your little web of lies, so I guess I take it back, you do come up with original thought, i.e. the twisting of everything I've said.

Again, the only solution to our love fest is a digital duel.

If Barack Obama wins the Presidential election, I will terminate my membership account at GT40's.com, BUT ONLY IF you agree to terminate your membership account at GT40's.com if Mitt Romney wins the Presidential election.

Grow a backbone and stand up for your beliefs. Don't wait for someone else to agree to such an arrangement so you can copy and paste it.

And I'll ask, craik, why in your biggest moment, you copy and paste something someone else wrote?

Think for yourself, just once. I'd even be happy if you had something good to say about B.O. that came from you and not some comedian turned political expert.

Mr Fechter,

You started this thread about the wonderful speeches at the convention, you did nothing but cut and past speeches.

Now when you are confronted with the truth about those speeches, you can't take it!

You do not engage in discussion, you do not answer questions, you only insult and change the subject.

I answered your question.

I'll ask again, why do you think Mr Ryan felt he needed to lie and distort?

Re: The Repubs knocked THEMSELVES out!!!

Jim is right, all the news outlets are focusing on the lies (even if they were lies by omission) from Ryan's address to the convention. Believe me, when a rabid, radical conservative network like Fox News(?) Network attacks Ryan for what he said, it should be obvious to all (except those who will NOT see) that the Republicans have little to offer the American public than more and more intensive misery.

Doug

Sally Kohn does not speak for Fox News, Fox News gives Sally Kohn a platform to voice her opinions.

To twist this into "Fox News attacks Ryan for what he said" is the perfect example of how the left is twisting the truth to cover the dismal record of Barrack Obama. Thank you for a perfect illustration of the deceit coming out of the left.

As to Ann Romney, I don't think that even the left wing media has attacked her in such a manner, using totally unfounded accusations that can only have come from your misled mind. It is most edifying to note that any Conservative woman, including Condoleeza Rice, is immediately trashed by the left.

To the cancer issue, my wife has CML, a form of leukemia. I don't need to be lectured on survival, but my heart goes out to anyone suffering from this cruel disease. Anyone who has fought it is a hero in my eyes, and should be held in high respect.

Just because a liberal operative says Paul Ryan lied doesn't make it so craik.

Do you really think any Conservative would lie knowing full well that the entire mainstream media is out to get him?

I'm not going to get bogged down in your shopping list of distortions.

The truth will out.

You are a man of little conviction if you refuse my challenge.

For those of you who can not use the internet..................

Vice presidential candidate Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) is taking flack on the morning news shows for his keynote address at the Republican National Convention Wednesday night. His speech was riddled with false claims, so much so that even Fox News wrote, “To anyone paying the slightest bit of attention to facts, Ryan’s speech was an apparent attempt to set the world record for the greatest number of blatant lies and misrepresentations slipped into a single political speech.”
Here are the most glaring lies from his speech:
1. “A downgraded America.” Ryan blamed the president for the nation’s credit downgrade in August 2011 after Republicans threatened to allow the government to default on its debt for the first time in history. But the ratings agency explicitly blamed “Republicans saying that they refuse to accept any tax increases as part of a larger deal.”
2. “More debt than any other president before him, and more than all the troubled governments of Europe combined.” Romney has made the almost identical claim, that Obama has amassed more debt “as almost all of the other presidents combined.” But their math doesn’t add up: when Obama took office, the national debt was $10.626 trillion. It has increased to slightly above $15 trillion.
3. Shuttered General Motors plant is “one more broken promise.” Ryan described a GM plant that closed down in his hometown, Janesville, Wisconsin, and blamed Obama for breaking his promise to keep the plant open when he visited during his campaign. But Obama never made that promise, and the plant shut down in December 2008, before Obama even took office.
4. Obama “did exactly nothing” on Bowles-Simpson. Ryan said, “He created a bipartisan debt commission. They came back with an urgent report. He thanked them, sent them on their way, and then did exactly nothing.” In fact, Ryan was instrumental in sabotaging the commission, leading the other House Republicans in voting against the plan.
5. “$716 billion, funneled out of Medicare by President Obama.” Ryan’s favorite lie is a deliberate distortion of Obamacare’s savings from eliminating inefficiencies. Furthermore, Ryan’s own plan for Medicare includes these savings. Romney has vowed to restore these cuts, which would render the trust fund insolvent 8 years ahead of schedule.
6. “The greatest of all responsibilities is that of the strong to protect the weak.” Ryan closed the speech with an invocation of social responsibility, saying, “The truest measure of any society is how it treats those who cannot defend or care for themselves.” However, numerous clergy members have condemned Ryan’s budget plan as “cruel,” and “an immoral disaster” because of its devastating cuts in social programs the poor and sick rely on. Meanwhile, Ryan would give ultra-rich individuals and corporations $3 trillion in tax breaks.

******************************

So, I'll ask again, why in his big moment, the biggest momen of his life, would Mr Ryan decide that the best course of action was to misslead and misinform the people of the United States?
Jim..you should really check your facts....the janesville GM plant actually did close in 2009...ah but who really cares about the truth.

***Fox Entertainment says its so!***

***He did lie, is Fox out to get him?***

I'm not going to get bogged down in your shopping list of distortions.

So lets see wat Mr Fechter is saying.

He calls Fox liberal opreatives. Typically, he attacks the messenger, not the message

He does not want to "get bogged down" by refuting Mr Ryans lies. He really means: damn, those are lies and I can't refute them.

Jim, maybe you're just slow. I've already pointed out that Sally Kohn doesn't speak for Fox News, Fox News provides a platform for her to voice her opinions.

Therefore, when Sally Kohn says "Ryan lied," it doesn't mean that Fox News is in agreement with her. Can you understand that?

There are a few left wing editorials saying "Ryan lied," are you using Sally's article because you think you can say "Fox News says Ryan lied?" Rather clumsy, craik.

You are a traitor to your cause for not accepting my digital duel challenge.

LB, surely you don't expect the FN(?)N to give anyone a chance to voice their opinions unless their political position has been vetted in advance, do you? If you do, you are truly uninformed regarding the workings of the mass media field...and I doubt that is the case.

You are a traitor to your cause for not accepting my digital duel challenge.

Gee, LB, I can remember MANY challenges Jim has made during the political discussions on this forum, can't remember you accepting many of them, if any....by extension, does that make you a traitor? I think not....a coward, yes (IMHO), but not a traitor
We all know that if Jim were to be the victor in this challenge that you would be be back in no time under a different username....you have too much fun stirring the pot of $hI+ on this forum to disappear  !

However you want to describe it, Fox News has liberal commentators; Alan Colmbs, Susan Estriche, Bob Beckel, Juan Williams, Mara Laiason, Mort Kondrake, Kirsten Powers, etc. That's why they call it "Fair and Balanced."

Yeah, yeah, fox is the worst, etc. I don't care what you think I don't watch Fox. In some weird twisted way you are trying to take the comments of an obscure commentator to define Fox's opinion of the Ryan speech. It is bizarre!

I have also challened craik to drive his GT40 up to the Occupy crowd and hand them a business card. He wouldn't

Then, I challenged him to explain his theory that "African Americans don't do as well here because their ancestors were not as industrious because America got the ones who were caught" in person to a few African Americans. Not surprisingly he didn't go for that one either.

As to the digital duel, I doubt craik could stay away for half a day. There's no way to stop that on ether side. What is lost is seniority.

It's not just Fox News(?) Network, it's virtually all of them, regardless of political orientation. Ryan's deceit by omission has been an issue on all the morning talk shows, the news outlets, I'm surprised more Republicans haven't expressed displeasure at his nomination for VEEP.

Ann Romney is equally evasive regarding questions asked of her....IMHO we have a right to expect honest disclosure from potential political candidates, and considering the fact that Ann Romney obviously does and expects to continue to wield considerable influence over her husband, she should feel compelled to at least answer the questions rather than spinning the answer....today she dodged a question regarding her husband's success last night in his efforts to court the female vote during his acceptance speech, obviously she, herself, realizes that is a lost cause and that Romney didn't help himself any with his ineffective comments.

But....let's talk about more "knock out punches"...specifically the one I saw on tonight's national news. Seems Romney hosted a suare' for about 80 of his "fund-raiser" fat-cat cronies on this huge 150' yacht while in Tampa....pressured every one of them to raise $1M for him to use to upset Obama. Romney doesn't need anyone to deliver him a knock-out punch, he's doing a great job on his own....exactly how many of the millions of mainstream Americans really can relate to his most recent effort to buy the office of POTUS?

Sure, I bet Obama has raised a bunch of $$, too, but in such a blatantly unsympathetic manner when the majority of main street is really hurting? Can any of us ever think Romney will place our interest in front of those of the fat-cat contributors who will have helped him buy the job, heaven forbid he should win the election? I can't....can't even imagine you could think differently, LB, you've proven yourself a capable thinker now that you've quit with the vitriolic attacks and started focusing on what YOU think....good on ya for that, even if we don't agree, I prefer to read about your opinion than read endless links to information from unreliable and obviously biased sources.

Cheers, Bob!

The question still is, with unemployment, food prices, housing, fuel prices and overall outlook, are you better off than you were the day of Obama's inauguration? If you say yes, then continue living in that balloon and blaming everyone else.

I am much better off since Obama took office? US GDP is up, unemployment is down, The stock market is way up.

Compared to the rest of the world (they are not blessed with Obama:)). You notice that the chart changes direction, soon after Obama took office. Now there are many many reasons for the improvement, how much was Obama, probably not that much. But the question was "am I better off". The answere to that is absolutely!

Here is the stock market under Obama, the market is actually up slightly since this chart came out.

Now I know the debt is still up, but if we stop cutting taxes and the economy continues to grow, that number will start to decline as well.

Here are some other reasons we are better off than we would be under a McCain-Palin administration.

Bin Laden is dead.
General Motors lives.
The Iraq was is over.
Gays can serve proudly
Health care for all is comming.
Choice is still our choice.
Wall street reform.
We stopped torturing everyone.
No 9-11 style attackes on the US.

Am I better off? Absolutely, and you are too.

You may be, unemployment is 7/10% higher than 01,20,09, ten years of good intelligence led to OBL's death, GM is on the edge, Iraq get's blown up daily, OK the gays are happy, huge healthcare debt is coming, choice is fine, Wall Street is making money for them & us as usual, we still question people, you missed Ft Hood and underwear boy and others, over $5 trillion of new debt in less than 4 years, Senate hasn't brought up a budget to be voted on in over 3 years, war in Afghanistan is larger, more people in US live below poverty level, BO hasn't figured out how to do the job without blaming someone, no other president in history has done this. Oh, over 2 months of 40 hour weeks playing golf, wonder who he blames his handicap on? Yeah, we're doing just fine!

The only reason the stock market is up is because it is being artificially lifted by Fed funny money, and of course the market needs another injection of printed money again.

The market will have to adjust to this and the longer they artificially prop it up, the worse the crash will be. Then of course, they'll blame it on Bush or Romney depending on who wins in Nov.

But of course, we can't expect incompetent socialist takers to understand the concept of earned/real money.
