New RCR transaxle?

Adrian,

yes..all varieties have ratings...from the base unit of 600hp/500lbft....to the
seven speed 1400hp/1000lb/ft unit...with many incrimental options in between.

Full layout and options , with pricing will be posted next week.

It' next week, any updates?
Cheers Ray

Being eagerly awaiting an update as this would maybe help make SL-C more affordable and to maintain.

Will transaxle also have built in oil pump to support external cooler?

Details, details. We want details :)

Based on the charts, I calculate the following RPM for 5th/6th (last) gear for each option, with the Ricardo first followed by the Griffen options. Based on 19" rear wheel and tire with a combined 22.84" diameter. Does all this seem right?

Model MPH 70 MPH 80 MPH 90
Ricardo 2401 2744 3087
950 2347 2682 3017
950SS 2347 2682 3017
960SS 1970 2349 2642
960SS 2124 2428 2731

A 23 inch rear tire DIA is really short. Most classic rears are in the 26 inch range such as the GT40s, and Porsche 917. The modern stuff is taller.

Here's how I got 23 inches, which may be completely wrong.

The wheel is 19". The tire is 325/30 which suggests the height of the tire is 30% of 325mm, which is 97.5mm, which is 3.84 inches. 19 + 3.84 =22.84. Maybe my assumptions are wrong or I've left something out? Anyone. . . . anyone?

you need to add 2x the height of the tire to the diameter of the wheel...

Duh!!! That's embarrassing. So with a tire diameter then of 26.677 I get the following:

Model MPH 70 MPH 80 MPH 90
Ricardo 2055 2349 2643
950-- 2009 2296 2583
950SS 2009 2296 2583
960SS 1759 2011 2262
960SS 1819 2078 2338

Stupid question. Doesn't the Ricardo use a 3.5x r&p? The Griffin lists 3.73, so shouldn't the Griffin's RPMs be higher than the Ricardos, not lower?

Im getting sick of you twerps, you have to multiply the gear ratio by the R&P ratio to get the overall ratio in any transaxle to do a comparison, just saying one has 3.73/1 R&P versus the other having 3.5/1 R&P means nuthing-diddly squat, get it, good...:):), counting the seconds until this post disappears as well... pity, it might actually educate some RCR types...........
