Thanks Ron
I love this !! your skill and workmansip makes me feel mine is pretty average, Having said that it does push me to do better work and that is a big help. I want to get back into finishing my tub. Just the fuel tanks to make and a few little features around the seating area you have given me some ideas. Do you have a proper tool for doing the flared hole if so can you show a photo of it, I may try to make one.
Thanks for posting Jim
Cheers Leon.
Leon look at this guys work (Ashley),I studied inside the air frames to see how it is made folded and cut it helped me lift my game and he advised me to buy an aircraft book that helped in some areas.
Looking at the photos was all it took to change my approach.
All MetalShaping
Using a trimmer to cut out panels made a massive difference, pic 3 is the die I use for cutting 30x 30 corners for all the 25 x 25 folds.
I clamp the sheet to the template on the edge of the table and trim it out.
Pic 4 is the finished sheet.
One of the best things I came up with for consistent folds was 1" masking tape, dont use a marking pen, I dont mark out for any folds I just lay the tape along the edge of the sheet.
The hole punching and swagging is a hyd unit.
I bought this on ebay for $100 and its the best thing since sliced bread.
I only have to drill an 11mm hole.
I then realized I can use it to swage as well, the 60mm I had to make an upper and lower die but the smaller ones I only make the upper and use the next size up in lower cutting dies on the lower and press into that.
I used delrin
