RCR's Next car should be.....

You guys are getting me all worked up with the rotary porn... just need the Furai for the money-shot.

Now where is my wife hiding at

When I registered my SLC here is North Carolina, I told them it was a 1989 Kudzu replica. This significantly reduces insurance and registration cost vs calling it a 2013 SLC.

Almost no one has heard of a car named "Kudzu". To justify my Kudzu designation to the DMV and my insurance company, I pulled together a short history of Kudzu -> click here

The Kudzu designation made it thru my local DMV office, but was rejected when the paper work got to the state DMV. They said there were so few Kudzus made that it would be like being a replica of a replica. Funny logic if you ask me. Using that logic, a GT40 should be viewed the same way.

Thankfully the SLC is much more pleasing to the eye than the car that inspired it.

The Furai would be a winner for sure. Sticking to concept cars that will never see the light of day would be a great niche.

As far as a replica from today's supercars, I would like a Pagani. In Carbon.

So what happened? Did you end up registering it as a Superlite SLC?

You can't just stop the story there! :)

Not that they dont look good but the aero is just wrong. forward facing air reliefs for the front end would induce positive pressure under the wheel wells larger air intake in the grill vs exit, again limit cooling and air extraction, Then behind the wheel they couldn't figure out how to vent all that air properly so, just cut a big hole to hope it goes that way. The scoops in the rear are sexy but so drag intensive. And the wing belongs on a 4 seat Honda with a fart can exhaust. But Fran can fix that stuff and bring to the us if he so desires.

The 792P is in the Mazda tent at Laguna Seca when we go for ALMS (now TUSC) and a couple of years ago it did a few demo laps. It was LOUD even without going full song.

The Furai was smokin hot (sorry). I liked that car a lot really a shame it went up in flames, great out of the box thinking.

IMO, the BAC Mono is one of the most beautiful cars of modern times both in terms of functionality and aesthetics. I know it's like a longer, skinned, nemesis but I sure would like one with a busa or motus v4. With the mono's price tag of 170k, you could offer it as the bigger brother to the nemesis, price it well above the nemesis, and make good money Fran...

What do you get when you cross an modified (widened) RCR-LMP-1 chassis with a topless version of the RCR 962 body?

An RCR-962 Spyder!

You might not even need to modify the rear canopy to go over the LS Engine. Looks like a two-seater would be a definite possibility.

I don't know enough about the value to estimate the auction price of the original at Monterey, but if I had to make a guess it would be 1.5 to 2.

Nice series of photos:

Have not been on this site for awhile and need an update. Before I decided to spring for the real deal 2005/2006 FGT, I had been looking at RCR's GT40 and was disappointed you could not put a bigger modern engine in it. I was looking at getting a salvage Mustang GT500 and pulling engine for RCR GT40. Fran had discussed with me to wait for his next car which would be a knock off of the Robertson Racing GT. That was many months ago and I got tired of waiting and purchased my 2005 FGT. Are rumors correct and RCR will be coming out with his own version of the modern GT in the coming weeks? Looking forward to seeing the details. Will probably borrow alot from his SL-C for the under body stucture and suspension which would be a good thing considering most of the upgrades have been worked out on that car.

The chassis is all its own as it is 5 inches wider and four inches taller than the SLC.
Its cavernous inside...7 foot tall NBA big..
The engine bay is much larger too., meaning superchargers and turbos will bound...

There is some carry over parts but very few...brakes, bearings, some upright/suspension components

Here are pictures of the heavily refined body prior to moulding from a few weeks ago.
The body gaps are far superior to an OEM GT , all of the body panels align with moulded alignment tabs and receivers.
The surface finish on the panels is even better than the SLC.
All the attachment points for the body to body and body to chassis are premoulded into the parts.

All the aerocatch latch locations and receivers are also premoulded.

This level of detail and refinement has taken a long time to put into place as the race car body, whilst good for a race car that's get painted , it wouldn't cut it in a gelcoat finish in the retail world....but it will now.
