Show me your knob

This should be in the interior section but I have posted it in the Paddock so as to correctly locate the inevitable knob jokes that will ensue.
I have attached some pictures of my knob and hope that as I have shown you mine you will show me yours!
Although I have been attached to my knob for many years now I have never really liked it. I don't like the colour, the shape or even the way it is attached. As I have played with it and waggled it about on many happy occasions the time has come for for some drastic surgery and a new dawn.
I have pondered long and hard and have searched the internet and viewed many seductive pictures of the vast range of shapes, sizes and colours to be found. I have narrowed it down to couple provided by the local CNC surgeon. I have gone for aluminium but maybe something warmer in the hand would be more satisfying. I have gripped and waggled them and find the experience quite rewarding (and pleasurable even) but the time has come for a decision. To help me I need you guys who understand these things to step up and show me some pictures of your knobs and to indicate a preference in this area of tactile ergonomics as to whether you go for the fat and stubby or the long and ribbed. If you have difficulty maybe the ladies in your life who understand these things can give you some pertinent advice.
Also any or all knob jokes will be welcome in my quest for the one true knob.
Over to you gentlemen.
Cheers
Mike

First pic is my old battered ugly knob. The others are my post op ideals

Mike you will need to make sure that your knob gets screwed . The last thing you need is for your knob to drop off the first time it gets pulled.

I enjoyed my metal knob for a while but found (here in Florida anyway) that is got hot and sweaty in the summer months meaning I didn't enjoy touching it like I normally would and only grabbed it when I really needed to. In England a metal knob might be more receptive to touching in the summer but less so in the winter. I now have a woody which I find much more suitable and certainly much nicer to grip and tug on. Also, the more I touch it the better it looks as the oil from my palms adds a nice sheen to it.

You made little mention of leather knobs. They can be very racey and I recall having one on my 1967 1275 Cooper S which was great in both winter and summer.

I have had my car for some years now and my knob is rather old battered and worn, it still functions ok and gets the job done but at a much slower and less frenetic pace than when the car was new.

Ive managed to talk Chris in making a replica of his knob, it looks exactly like the above pics , nicely brown in colour with a nice sheen, and feels really good when you get a good grip on it.
hopefully i'll get as much pleasure out of mine as Chris did with his.

cheers John

Actually John I have heard that Chris makes very fine replicas of his knob, in any size or shape within reason that one desires. Although I am not sure if he makes leather encased knobs of any description.

I always try to stick with what "The Man" gave me and not try to enhance or otherwise endow myself with larger or longer Knobs. In the end you will find that the one that suits you best is the one you have, although mine is quite small it always gets the job done and I have never been found lacking when some thrust is called for. Of course mine also has some letters on the tip, but these do not detract from the pleasure of holding it or the smoothness of the pull and push action. I have never had to hit it to get it in and would not be without it.

I don't believe a gearbox needs to forced thru the gears, a couple of fingers on the knob to change gears should be sufficient...so I opted for a small knob. Don't know why but I liked the red color...I think I like the whole setup. One might call it a nice knob job.
Cheers

If I had a knob with a button on it, I'd wire it up to an external speaker so that in between each gear, my car would scream "ARSE!" very loudly.
