Weber IDF. Again

Well, we took the sage advice of JacMac and others. Ordered a new induction system: Holley carb, Edelbrock manifold, and all the bits. And it worked . . . . in a manner of speaking.

Put the new bits in front of the GT. Right in front of the headlights. Then decided to try one more little adjustment on the Webers that we had overlooked before tearing stuff apart.

It worked. The Webers run great. Clearly the presence of the new Holley and assorted parts had its desired affect.

Details will be forthcoming. For now, don't want to say too much for fear of jinxing things.

Plan to keep the Holley and other bits for now . . . . .

This is not rational thinking. Then again, acquiring a GT40 is not rational thinking to begin with, is it. So good on you, and hope it continues to behave itself.

Thats a bit like taking your prospective girlfriend ( Miss Holley ) home to meet your wife ( Mrs Weber ), while it might make Mrs Weber lift her game in the short term, long term I see both 'ladies' looking for someone who will support them in a manner that they wish to become accustomed to & you riding a GT20 down to the local singles club:)..... Just Kidding Chuck..

Jac:

Never thought of the carbs as Mrs. Weber and Miss. Holley before. Perhaps that explains their fickle behavior.

We will see how it does at Road America this week. Mrs. Weber will be attending while Miss. Holley stays home alone . . . .

Good news.

Just returned from Road America where we did some nice crusing through the Wisconsin country side when it wasn't raining. Drove another 50 miles yesterday. The Webers are behaving very nicely. Actually VERY nicely.

So, Jac, since Mrs. Weber behaved so well Miss Holley will be sent back home to Summit Racing. Figure a one month affair and another 100 plus miles was enough time to assure the relationship with Mrs. Weber.

Cliff:

Yea, I will do a post on the Weber saga . . . . that 'jinx' issue still looms large . . . . . give me a couple of days. Just want to make sure . . . . not that I am superstitious or anything . . . . . .

Chuck,
I've been glued to your build thread and congratulate you on the car. Looks bloody good mate!! As for the webers I too have 40 IDF's on my car and have experienced some similiar spitting and "sneezing" issues as well as a prominent backfire during run-off (decel). I'll look forward to your posting about the fix. Living in Florida I endure many hot and humid days so I'm hoping when the cooler temps arrive I will see a change in the cars overall performance. I love the webers but finding a voodoo medicine man to work on them has been another ordeal. They scare the crap outta me!! Enjoy your car......I'm as giddy as a schoolgirl everytime I plant my butt in the seat of mine.
