It seems appropriate since we have an angry old white guy (Bob), pissed off when "THEY" run everything, complaining about a student health plan on the other side of the country at a PRIVATE university offering coverage for a procedure he doesn't care for. That about sums up Archiebunkerism right there.

And Bob, a suggestion. It would be really nice if you stopped thinking about Americans, or other folks, who disagreed with you on political issues as "THEY" or the enemy or people out to ruin your life, or the country or whatever.

Despite my disagreements with you, and my real concern for your sanity, I don't hate you. I don't think you are trying to destroy my country. And I'm not really concerned when people with politics like yours are elected to office. The country has a great tradition of balancing out left and right and finding the right path.

So while I do hate you or your viewpoints, I am concerned that the attitude you espouse towards others could, if adopted by all, be our undoing. You can disagree without making everything so confrontational, and with out demagoguing the other side.

There's a challenge! See if you can articulate your political positions using positives that show why your position is good, and not why the opposing position is better. Can you do it?

It's an interesting point. I do not even understand most of what Bob posts, but I quite like his sense of humour. I probably do not agree with his politics but there again I never know whether he's being serious or just fishing. In any event his posts are mainly US centric and thus a mystery to all of us over here, as are certain other US citizens'.

All I DO know is, he has never insulted or patronised me on this board and for that reason I am quite relaxed about his presence and sometimes, I even talk to him like he was in the same room.

I have been guilty of letting stuff get in the way myself and responding inappropriately, and I have promised the proprietors that I will desist from belittling anyone else (not that I have the brains anyway), or criticise their politics or life choices not that I ever have done so either..

Jeff, take a DNA sample of any transsexual and you will find the "procedures" fundamentally change nothing... The genetic code in every cell in their bodies, remains the gender they were born with.
Instead, it cruelly gives false hope that somehow the horrible mutlating process will recast or resolve the emotional pain they feel and when it doesn't apparently many choose to end their lives.
If it was truly a solution, the suicide rates would not be what they are now would they?
Recent studies reflect a growing concern with the high prevalence of LBGT self-harm/mutilation has led several workgroups to consider the possibility of defıning non-suicidal self-injury as a distinct syndrome. Until this is understood, so called mutlating "reassignment events" should at best be stopped and at the worse, no longer enabled.
I personally think they are a page taken from Dr. Mengle.
