I'm surprised that no one has commented on Jarno's dummy spit at Sutil.
All I could see was Trulli trying to make a pass that wasn't on and Sutil quite rightly holding his line. Way OTT reaction from Jarno.:stunned:

The return of slick tyres, the introduction of "passable" aerodynamics and the debut of KERS.

The absence of DC, who knows who'll be in Hondas and Renaults.

A new wearer of #1 and some new additions to the crowd of those trying to take it from him.

Might turn out to be worth watching....

From post#1
Well we know who was in the Honda....what were the odds on Jenson Button on this date in 2008? Who would have ever picked this one?

Will it be like an Afghanistani election? Everything else in the FAI stinks so will this election be any different? I hope for Vatenen but I fear it will not be the case.

I will. Hilarious, very Italiano... and very reminiscent of Nelson Picquet Snr and... and..., er, can't remember but was it at Spa a million years ago?

Talking about no mentions, what about the impressive but disgraceful drive from Kobayashi - he very nearly killed Nakajima with that crazy move... and that wasn't the only one. He showed some real racing spirit but forgot he was in an F1 car - dangerous...

It seems he (Kobayashi) would make three separate moves instead of the allowed one defensive block. The Speed channel played a radio transmission from Button complaining how he can't get past him due to his extreme bobbing and weaving. I just assumed he (Button) was just making lame excuses for not getting around him. Then seeing the rest of the bunch have trouble with him and then Kazuki's incident, well I guess he needs a talking to......

I thought it was a great drive from Kobayashi, particularly as it was his maiden F1 drive. Granted he needs to be chatted too about the blocking and told he is not driving a kart, which I'm sure will happen, loved his spirit though.

I think for the same reasons as David hinted at Todt will get the vote, although I think Ari would do a better job.

Here is an interesting perspective. http://www.pitpass.com/fes_php/pitpass_feature_item.php?fes_art_id=39385

Renault F1 team in Enstone, Oxfordshire UK will be sold to the highest bidder, probably in November after final race. Lets see if Flavio Briatore can run with this one.
The Renault F1 Engine division in Viry , France may continue depending on who wants the engines in 2010.

Montreal daily La Presse reported on Wednesday that the fiscal issues standing in the way of the Canadian Grand Prix have been settled, thereby green-lighting an official announcement which may come this week.

Bernie Ecclestone was demanding written guarantees that he would not have to pay local taxes on the public money granted to the event, since British taxes would also be paid. Canadian law provides for such amounts to be reimbursed once proof of tax payment in another country has been received. However, F1's chief executive had no interest in waiting several months before the cheque arrived.

After fiscal lawyers spent weeks looking through different scenarios, the solution agreed upon will see the public monies transferred to the organisation which covers the islands including the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, and will in turn handle the tax payments to the municipal, provincial, and federal levels – leaving Ecclestone out of the tax paperwork.

Before being dropped from the 2009 season, for three decades the Canadian round had been presented at the famous Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve to sell-out crowds, and its time slot on television made it one of the most-watched races across the globe.

It is expected that the return of the Canadian Grand Prix will be confirmed this week by Montreal Mayor Gerald Tremblay, with the next edition taking place on 13 June 2010 as indicated on the provisional calendar released recently. The current deal will cover the next five years.

The FIA subsequently announced that it is "shortly expecting confirmation from Formula One Management" regarding the Canadian race, and indicated that the final 2010 calendar "will be adopted at the December meeting of the WMSC (World Motor Sport Council)."

Donington goes tits up - 17 year deal for Silverstone. Donington fund-raising bond is withdrawn.

From the Telegraph......

Silverstone is bracing itself for contract talks with Bernie Ecclestone to host the British Grand Prix after Donington Park's latest fund-raising attempt hit the buffers on Thursday night.

Ecclestone, Formula One's commercial rights holder, informed Donington chief executive Simon Gillett that he was in breach of contract two weeks ago after his company missed its latest deadline.
He was given until Friday morning to "remedy the breach" and in desperation proposed a high-risk bond issue in an attempt to generate £135 million for rebuilding work.

Those hopes look to be shredded when Gillett's bond issue withdrawn on Thursday.
Silverstone president Damon Hill has repeatedly said he is ready to step back in if guaranteed the grand prix would remain at the circuit long term.
And Ecclestone appears prepared to talk.
"Silverstone will have the opportunity of exactly the same contract as Donington," he said two weeks ago when Gillett missed his last deadline.
Asked if that meant a 17-year contract, Ecclestone replied: "Yes."

I would say eat your heart out Ecclestone but he doesn't have one. It was replaced long ago with a cash register. Well done Damon but make the little bastard squirm and don't pull in the lifeline too quickly - let him freeze for a while.

Masterpiece of timing with the 2009 Silverstone financial results being published at the critical moment. If Gillet's bond was close to striking the rocks, that eye opening titbit torpedoed it..

Would really like to see that pairing. I'm sure Ross Brawn would prefer a couple of young guns now he's established a benchmark..

Rosberg would be my 1st choice for Brawn.
