I've been thinkng about this question for a couple of days now, and I realise that I can't vote.
This is not a yes or no, black or white question.
In summation,
YES - We SHOULD still be there IF we have the full support of our respective governments. By this I mean (in the case of the UK) full and proper equipment able to fully support the troops in theatre, which is NOT the case at the present. We are losing too many of our troops due to poor decisions based on cost cutting and beaurocracy. Gordon Brown needs to realise that the military cost cutting decisions he made some years ago are now coming home to his roost. Also, FINALLY we seem to have the general public squarely behind our troops, and this is hugely important to them. I imagine and hope (as I have never been in the forces) that it gives them a sense of pride that they do their job for us as well as for each other.
and,
NO - If we cannot do the above.
We as a small but proud nation have lost so many troops to this "war", "Insurgency"... "war on Terror" - now there's a war that you can NEVER win. Maybe It's cynical, but did G.Dubbya come up with that phrase all by himself. The never ending war with no mandate, endpoint or possible conclusion...
So for that reason I don't feel that I can vote on this issue.
All the best,
Graham.
