It is time we try out the chat feature. I think to give it a run we should decide on a day and time to give it a try. I'm proposing next Sunday (it'll give me some time to sort some issues with it) which will be the 20th of August. Saturday could also be fine if people wished, we can sort the day via discussion. The time is most important.

Since we're an international community I based the time off Greenwich time and also put EST and PST times on there as well. Australian folks, you'll have to fend for yourselves on this one but I think you might have a shot at the later chat times. So what time is good?

Ron, Sunday afternoon your time is Monday morning in the antipodes. In NZ 1700Z is 5am. Our Oz mates, depending on location, are a few hours later, most of them will still be sleeping. An early time would appear to be better for them that way they will be able to get up early before work!! I might have to organise one of my workers to open up on Mon. morning so I can participate.

Cheers

It is 6:50 am Mon morning that I have posted this.

Which shows as being 7:50pm in the UK :)
You must have an hour daylight saving in there then?

Heck we've got months to wait for ours. Snow on the hills today and the diesel workshop heater is on overtime. Roll on summer!

Time is drawing close if we wish to try a chat. How are we doing on time? Looks like 5pm EST, 2pm PST, and 10PM Z time would be the choice right now.

Ron, I have a suggestion. As I was watching the Montreal GP race yesterday on broadcast TV (all, what, 7 laps of it?), I thought it might be a good idea to schedule chats during the times major races are being broadcast. This might not be such a good idea, what with everyone having different cable/dss/etc. setups, each of which might broadcast these events at different times, but if it were workable it might provide a rallying cry to get the chat room some use.

Unfortunately, as I think about it, it sounds like a lot of work for whoever moderates the chat room, but as the brain fart hit yesterday I thought I'd mention it.

Just my 2 cents worth....

Chat or 200+ mph?

Ron,

I have a problem with the chat, seem to login ok up to a point then I get this message...

(Invalid username [Test_???])

...and I'm not connected. I'm running explorer 6 with windows XP OS, is there a 'fix' or is it just that I've cooked my CPU playing 'Need for Speed II' far to much rather than talking to the GT40 worldwide crew....

Don't know of a fix other than having a look at your secruity settings, firewalls, router firewalls, and the like. As I said, some work, some don't, but I can't figure out what drives it since it clearly resides in the differences of the computers/browsers trying to hook up.
