The car I wish I'd never sold was my second one - a 1954 Citroen Big 15 (Traction Avant). Out handled pretty much anything else of comparable vintage and driving it was never tiring. Next favourite was my first truly fast car - 1990 Sierra Cosworth.

1931 ford 5 window coupe with rumble seat - all original metal - including fenders & running boards - had a big Pontiac with tri-power, ford 9" rear end, would NOT go strait under power from torque steer -

met my wife when cruising Whittier Blvd. in it in the 60's - still married to her too

traded that car for a bultaco motorcycle & Volkswagen beetle

dumbest thing I've ever done!

Dave, Your 31 Ford sounds awesome. Get out there in the garage and find that picture, and post it. Good job on the way you met your wife and for maintaining the partnership!

Were you part of the Harris Olds family in Whittier? Did you attend California High, Sierra, or Whittier high, and did you get transferred to La Serna high?

We have to talk. Send me a PM to get this started. I love ALL, "it's a small world" happenings. Thanks, Robert :2thumbsup:

First sports car was a Triumph GT6. Great fun in my early 20's but really tail happy.

Probably best "all rounder" was a Ford Capri 1600, GT XLR. ( I believe that means it got a clock!). Used it to tow the Formula V, around town gave reasonable economy, and had a fair turn of speed and handling, well it did after suspension mods and engine tweaks. And yes in the same vein as others I met my wife when this was the daily driver.

...met my wife while crusing Birch Bay (Washington St.) in the afore mentioned '59 Impala in the summer of 1963. This coming September will mark our 47th year together. The credit there is all hers. A lesser woman would have dumped me by the time I was 35. 'Dead serious. She's something very special.

For me, it's my old '69 Triumph Vitesse Estate. It went from 1296cc (4cyl) to 2500cc (6cyl) supercharged with efi, then Nissan RB26 with supercharger, and finally back to good old TR 2.5 mech injection. I also fitted a GT40 dash and Speedhut set for fun (thanks Mark).

Now this is the proper use of our favourite shade of blue ;)

In hindsight, I probably should've finished the one on the left (last pic)!

Well it said car....not type. A brand new 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, 440ci, Hurst Pistol grip 4 speed, ac, ps, pb, and the Track Pack option. Banana Yellow w black trim and rear spoiler. Because of the short gears (Track Pack) it would start to 'float' at 135mph. Stupid me on Polyglass tires. My 110 pound wife drove it the year I was in Viet Nam.

Grady, I have a 72 Charger now, 440, pistol 4, fun car.

Other two cars I have that I love to drive were my 2000 BMW M Coupe which got me started on track days, and my 1980 Triumph TR8 ITS race car.

I'd like to say it's my Cobra replica, but it spends more time in the garage than it does on the road, so....

...my 1965 Pontiac GTO 2 door hardtop. No power steering, no power brakes, no A/C, just a big block V-8, a 4-speed transmission and an alternator. It was great fun for a guy who was just 20 years old and in college!

I'd add my Kirkham Cobra. sitting in the garage as we speak. Actually of all my toy cars, I drive that one, and the Mini-Cooper the most. (classic Mini, not the new one, although they are fine, too) Since I bought the Mini, they built traffic roundabouts in Annapolis, which (as you would expect) the Mini eats for lunch.

'61 Falcon 2dr sedan into which I shoehorned a vintage T-bird 'Y' block. reworked the spring towers, used a full size Canadian station wagon nodular iron rear axle w/3.9's, 4 sp 10 bolt top cover T-bolt trans, short stick Hurst, custom drive shaft w/forged yokes, custom exhaust, interior from a Sprint model (buckets, console, side panels and semi-bucket rear). Engine had 2" intakes, Jahn's 12:1, Isky 301-C, Edelbrock 3X2 w/ 3 Holley 2bbl, roller timing chain, hi-vol pump and Clevite brgs. Made my own lift bars from Model B radius rods before they 'had' lift bars. 2750lbs w/10 gal in the tank and the original straight seats (before the buckets). Radiused rear wells, Honduras Maroon Metallic. Unbeatable out of the hole.

I think I had the most fun with my XK150 'S' OTS, although for sheer teenage madness, the '63 Pontiac Tempest that I put a 389. Muncie 4 spd, '57 Pontiac rear end into certainly had its moments.

I love the engine swaps!!!

Al, your Falcon sounds similar to an early project I had that started with a 63 V8 Falcon Sprint!

Sounds like a fun little Tempest Bob!

My old Audi Ur quattro back in the late eighties. What a car!

My current car is far and away better and faster, BUT that quattro really was the most amazing machine in its day. Wouldn't mind re-stocking one of those bad boys! Alas, no space and too many toys already!
