When THEY Run Everything.

Pete, the Cypriot Government's propaganda could onlt be swallowed (and is therefore soley aimed at) the stupid, or poorly edumaceated (see what I just did Jim C?)

Hoping the masses will accept this robbery if they can be convinced it is 'mainly' stealing from criminals! If the odd innocent grandma with savings gets caught up in it, well, acceptable levels of collateral damage?

HOGWASH

The fact is, they will find a way to squirrel the funds back to the Rusky Mobsters as soon as the death threats arrive or little Johnny, the junior ministers love child gets picked up from school. Placating them with shares in publicly funded BS off shore wind farms or a reduction on the tax due from night-clubs, under the guise of they are providing a much needed public service, during times of hardship.

It appears they may have simply tipped them off...

Der Spiegel is reporting that the Cypriot central bank may have looked the other way as large sums of capital exited the island earlier this month. Whether this happened just before the bank holiday or right after the holiday began is unclear.

What is increasingly clear however is that those with over EUR 100,000 still in the bank will lose at least 40% of their holdings. Some believe that the percentage will be closer to 90%. In light of the capital flight the number may be more toward the higher end.

The real worry is other governments including Australia's think what Cyprus is doing is a good idea. My government is already investigating ways of how to get their greedy little mits on people's superannuation funds.

Seriously guys, regardless of any of our individual political stances, or whether or not we think Hilary is fit and Obama is an alien, or Mits are something one puts on cold hands, what we are all witnessing, is governments exercising excessive power and banks demonstrating that they clearly have excessive power over governments.

I think it was for this reason, that one country we all know and love, has a bill of rights and a constitution.

Please lets all take a step back from our own personal bunkers, and turn some of our political passion (after all we all want a better society) against those that seem beyond reproach.

Its very easy if everyone does it together. Hell, only roughly 40% of us need actually do anything, the rest can do like they normally do and sit quietly on the sidelines with clean hands.

How do we make anything happen? EASY, everyone that usually votes, must not vote for anyone at the next opportunity. Zero votes cast = 100% lack of faith in All candidates = CHANGE!

I am not at all sure that Govts. now have all that real power anymore Mark - political will seems to be driven far more by economics that it ever was, and that puts the power in the hands of unelected and shadowy manipulators.

George Soros for example, in real terms is 'richer' than the United States because he has billions in (hidden) assets and zero debt (that's if you apply the old fashioned premise that debt should be repaid).

That buys a lot of power.

(Failed) banks are till paying out millions in bonuses to their directors. What for?

I am hopeless at economics so this statement might appear idiotic, but I have never experienced this level of political castration before.

I disagree with not voting, a total waste of your democratic right. And I'm sure Mark if someone tried to take that right from you you would fight to keep it.
Better to find an independent candidate who agrees with your views and vote for him/ her. Or run yourself. I'd vote for you.
I think the Baron, you and Mr Morton should all run as independents on the radical old white guy ticket. You would no doubt have the balance of power within a very short time

A lot of this insanity is created to frustrate the average person so that they turn off the politics and stop participating. That opens the door for those who get something for nothing to control who gets into office to give them more.

I hear you Pete, (not on the standing bit though!)

However, the system relies on good men like you and others, defending the right to vote. I suggest that a unilateral NO VOTE is a vote and possibly the only vote by which we will ALL be heard! SAD I know!

There will always be those who DO vote regardless. So, even if there were only one, two, or three people who did vote - THEY would decide the election. The giant group of "no" voters you're suggesting would lose.

Ponder this for a second. What about requiring a "none of the above" box for each political office on all election ballots instead? THAT is a "no" vote that would actually count.
:chug:

How about having to pass a drug test before being able to vote?

Good idea. How about an IQ test? Hold on though, who would set the questions? OK then, drug test it is.

Guys, my talking about a unilateral NO vote, is just academic. To make a point.

I know it could never happen, it would only take one A-hole to vote for another A-hole and that A-hole would win.

Wait a goddamn minute................

Bob, that appears to support the premise that 'politics' is an intellectual issue, with a game plan from the outset, and I do not support that.

When and if elected, your bright eyed bushy tailed 'few good men' will, in all probability, be eager to make a meaningful difference. That is until he meets the Chief Whip (UK) and given his official short leash - then it's drone time.

The 'political party system' the world over appears broken.

The 'few good men' perhaps should be allowed to take their seats before choosing allegiance. That would be interesting....

Keith, at least over here, there is a battalion of Walri slippin' and a slidin' all over the truth. It makes the ones, who believe differently and are therefore "Angry Old White Guys," eventually hole up in remote cabins in Montana.

Right now, here in the 'States, I'd be happy just to see people show a picture I.D. (driver's license, passport - any 'official' I.D.) before they could vote. But, noooooooooo! According to the Democrats, requiring that would "create undue hardship" on minorities and 'the poor'! They'd be "disenfranchised"! What an absolute crock.

Every 'I.D.' bill that's been proposed that I'm aware of has had a "we-will-mail-you-one-FREE" provision in it!!! HOW DOES THAT "CREATE A HARDSHIP"??? (Maybe it would have to be hand delivered so that said people wouldn't have to walk to their mailbox? Ya think?)

:furious:

Yet ID was required at the 2012 Democrat National Convention. So, you need ID to be in His presence, but not to vote for him. How is the vote checked without ID? Ahhhh.......
