Anyone having issues with GT Forte?

Do you have plans for your next step Dave? Still looking at other options?
Since all of this I have been re-evaluating the GT-40 build. I love the car and always will but I always find when something like this happens it’s leading me to similar but different directions.
My plan is to build a newer version of the GT40. This includes the body profile, which I won’t mention but I’ll throw a hint in there. It’s got gorilla glass
I have the 3 axis plotted dimensions for the body profile on CAD and frame is still being worked on.
I am much happier with this but if the opertunity comes up where I can acquire a GT40 body in N America than it’s still a possibility.
It will be hard work but I will have more fun working on my project than probably fixing poor quality parts to make them fit.

Sorry to hear you're having problems guys.

I too own and have built up the flat pack chassis kit, and the quality has been great.

What hasn't been great is the lack of business acumen on the part of DG.

But here's the thing, I fully understood his shortcomings, had read all the past problems that others had (and are still having) with him, but still I tried to deal with him.

All's been fine until very recently, am waiting for a dashboard and front hubs which I've paid for.

Long story short, in the grand scheme of things, I'm in no rush for these parts.

What galls me is the lack of response from DG to my weekly emails/txts/phone calls.

Anyway, that's my 2 pennies worth.

What I have found though, is that Mick at Southern is a great chap to deal with.
The only way to sort out a :furious: like him is to ignore his business all together from the GT40 community.
By supporting him we acknowledge thats he's doing just fine the way he does business.
Why do you think he isn't getting back to you? Because he's ignoring you. Either until he feels like making the part, or he is holding money from various people to have capital and hopes no one emails or phones. Oh wait he just ignores you.
Send him a phony email asking for a shipping to europe somewhere. You will see how fast he answers, than you can share your two cents with us again.

I have a great idea. Why doesn’t everyone who reads this post send GTFORTE a spoof email asking for a shipping quote for a frame. That should be an interesting experiment, after all look at what we’re dealing with. If he chooses to lie about stuff then why not send him emails so he can keep his mouth in practice.
If you are starving you change the way you treat others.

Hey Charlie, do you recall what the body cost? Were you able to buy the parts with PayPal and did you ship the body in the US only?
I'd have to look up what I paid. It was over 10 years ago. I'm ashamed to admit how slow my progress has been. After an enthusiastic start, I haven't done anything with it for years until recently.

I don't know about shipping; Bill is local and he delivered the parts to me. I'm sure he could crate the parts up and ship them. Give him a call or send an email.

Have you confirmed this information with any other sources? If it is true he is legally not allowed to operate. He also wouldn’t be paying TAXES!
The fact that you couldn’t find the address makes more sense now.
So does this sound more like an honest business now? You may have opened a huge can of worms. If this is totally true I think it should convince everyone to not deal with him.

That is the official UK company house website, any registered company has to file returns and accounts.
That named company has been dissolved (closed)
He is the director of another company that is still trading
Use the same website and search his name.

Hey thx Ian. So I wonder what’s the UK tax revenue agency gonna do when he gets reported?:laugh::laugh:
I like it when a plan is coming together. Some of you may think it’s no big deal to operate the way he does but personally I am sick and tired of this sort of behaviour that seems to be a plague these days and I will do everything I can to stop it.
I know Southern GT will be getting an email from me. I’m sure they wouldn’t mind helping out.

Tax rules in the UK differs from other countrys. I run a small legal company in Holland. If I do more than €1700,- a year I have to deal with all the tax rules. In the UK its not €1700,- but around GBP 80.000,- (around €100.000,-) a year to fall into the tax rules and twice that amount if your partner, girlfriend or wife is into that company to. Those are not tax registrated if the don't want to. (And make it not interesting for me to deal with on business level).
If hes selling to customers outside the uk only and customers + companys within the UK only and staying within his financial limits he has nothing to worry about tax.

Hi JP
Correct if you are referring to VAT, which normally requires a quarterly 4 per year filing of returns detailing sales revenue.
However a company has to be registered with companies house, so they know who owns the company through its shareholding’s and also who is responsible legally to submit documents to then as directors.
They are also required to file accounts.

Her Magesties Revenue And Ciustoms HMRC are informed by Companies House of every company registered and they in turn send a statutory demand to file company tax returns with HMRC and pay and corporation tax within specified time limits.
Strangely enough they check the accounts registered at Companies house with the tax returns and they should correlate, or questions are asked.
And the 4 VAT return turnovers should match the annual sales in the field accounts and company tax returns

By becoming a company director you take on these responsibilities.

So GTforte does not and never had excist according to Companies House..

Accoding to his webshop, contact details are:
Autosport GP Engineering Ltd,
2 Westbrook Ave, Margate,

Been there, no GTforte or whetsoever.

Autosport GP Engineering Ltd was based on.
84 Thomas Way, Lakesview, Hersden

Been there to, again NO GTforte, Autoport GP or whatsoever.
Company disolved according to Companies House 20 june 2017

He now owns a company called Autosport Grand Prix Engineering Ltd which should be based:
Blog 521 Spitfire Way, Manston, Ramsgate
Incorporated on 22 November 2016

He actualy might have some space 9miles south from Ramsgate as in the old premises of a company I deal with, is somebody doing something with a GT40.

Interestingly GT Forte are still selling their flat pack chassis and various other parts on Ebay. However under the contact details it gives the name as Trevor Holmes, with the address as 4b Rancorn Road, Westbrook,

Well I finally got my money back from GTForte through a PayPal claim. He wrote me a long email describing what he thinks of me and turned everything around trying to make feel like I am the jerk. Amazing the people in this world.
Been there and this stuff flat out sucks.

The new forum will have a very powerful search engine so that if someone does look for GTForte they'll find this thread first and hopefully be warned off from doing business with the company.

About three years ago I got in touch with Darren to have a look at the GT product he was selling. I arranged to meet him at the roadside cafe, (presumably so he could check me out first, that I was not an irate customer). I then had to follow him to a remote industrial estate where his workshop was. For the life of me I could not take you back there. In the end with his reputation and bad publicity, I decided to go down the road of Southern GT, and I can say it's the best decision I have every made. Mick is always at the end of the phone if required, and his stock turnaround is very good.

one of the reasons I never give anyone any funds at all. If they can build it they should not have to get you to place deposits. I will only buy complete units that I can physically go see, no pictures. I have been screwed before also. I feel your pain. I had a friend tell me that he could build me a race car faster than my Dodge Viper Comp Coupe. After sending him 50K with him keeping me informed with pictures he requested another 35 to finish the car. I sent. Well the Pictures i was looking at was a car he was a car he was building for another customer. People SucK...Lost my Butt took to court he secretly declared bankruptcy.
