P 4/5 Competizione Test next week

I've driven the car as well and we've learned and are making very good progress.

The car has unbelievable rear grip. We, unlike the Ferrari 430 GT2 need no traction control. The nose needs more downforce to balance her and we've improved that and have some more things to try. She's very comfortable and viability is great. She's very fast especially in slow speed corners. Pirelli is doing a great job in developing our tires and they brought 80 sets to our last test and collected tons of data.

Running at Ring Ride Height (High for this track) Ring Exhaust (more restrictive) and Ring EXP1 air restriction (More restrictive than GT2) we we able to run very fast laps.

I remain very hopeful!

Jim,

leaving aside the phantastic car for a moment, how about the drivers?
Are they exprienced "Ring"-masters?

BTW, loved reading about your famous watch...good to know it made it out of Cuba, together with its previous owner, of course...

Best,
Marcus

They've all done well at the Ring and will do three races there before the 24.

According to the offcial results they finished 39th with an average speed of 140 km/h with 23 laps behind the winning porsche team. best lap was a 8:49 with an average speed of 172 km/h.
I watched the race on TV and Jims car draw quite some attention and got some good airing time.
It was by far the most fascinating car.
The TV interviewed a lot of drivers and all said that this was not a endurance race it was more like a 24h sprint race.

Here are the link to the results

According to a report they had a tire issue which had some following issues on the brakes, suspension and gearbox.
Beautiful night shot

What an adventure.

We got hit twice from behind and that's what caused us to spend 3 hours in the pits.

We Still finished 39 OA and 2 in class.

:)

Congratulations on finishing even with some of the difficulties, I am sure it was the best looking car in the race.

While it is only a recent finish, are you going to continue racing it or is it now going to be used like 4/5; on the streets?

Kevin

Thanks!

Not yet sure about racing next year.

If the organizers let us have a DRS system for more VMAX and a little more HP we probably will race some more.

I think the air restrictor rule and " balance of power" engagements gets a little to far. On the other hand speed differences are huge and there was also the Farnbacher Ferrari 458 who was quite one of the fastest cars ( best lap 8:31). What is the difference to your´s. Could you adapt/modify ?

After that lap they were restricted more.

We're running 500 lbs of ballast and a lot of air restriction as we only make about 460 HP.

With less restriction we could make 525 in endurance tune and 625 in sprint tune.

With less ballast we'd be faster.

Jim,

Am in Italy and was watching Numero 1 on RAI 2 15 minutes ago. They noted the success of you and the P4/5 at the 24 hours of Nurburgring. You did far better than expected, finishing 2nd in class. Great job !!!!
