Ok - not GT40 related at all this one..

But a friend is interested in turbocharging his GSX1400 but lives in Brisbane, Australia. A company has offered to carry out the conversion but is being somewhat coy about whether the resulting ride will be road legal or not.

It seems the powers that be are trying to rein in the hoons down there.

He would have to get the work checked by a certified engineer (approved person) and be issued with a mod plate. He may also have to comply with the current ADR's re emissions. I would not start the work until the company doing it can assure him it will comply. When in doubt don't.

That stinks. It'll reduce creativity and stifle small car related businesses. Must be approved by the state......I'm trusting we won't come to that point in the US but you never know.

You got it in one, Ron. How is it that governments, which are meant to represent us and collectively benefit us all (infrastructure, defence, education, health, etc.) have turned it totally around and are hell-bent on controlling us, telling us what we cannot do, and being a dictatorial nanny.

On emissions, for instance, the few of us hooning around in old, or high powered, or non PC cars (not achieving the prescribed low emissions car manufacturers are told they must achieve) here in Oz is a drop in the ocean compared to what each plane spews out on take-off. Why not limit them? The motorist is a soft, easy target to control.

Agree. This has been creeping upon us slowly with both major political parties guilty.
Over-government is Australia's curse.

Did you know that here in Tas' it has been reported that our esteemed premier, because of low uptake and interest, wants to make an NBN connection compulsory - I wonder why that is necessary... for our own good I suppose...
