Well done Paul. That's right up there with the now famous (or infamous), "Leave me alone, I know what I'm doing"...

Sad, nice guy too. Not a front runner in F1 (he always had shit cars) but nevertheless a Le Mans 24 Hours winner.

RIP.

Quote is from an F1 site:

"Red Bull punish Vettel by demoting him to Toro Rosso for Chinese GP

The aftermath of the Multi 21 team orders saga continues to rage, and today it has emerged that Red Bull have mandated that their errant world champion Sebastian Vettel will be ‘punished’ for his disobedience in Malaysia and demoted to the Toro Rosso team for the Chinese Grand Prix.

Meanwhile, Toro Rosso driver Daniel Ricciardo will be promoted to Vettel’s Red Bull RB9 seat for the race in Shanghai.

Ricciardo will join fellow Australian Mark Webber in the team’s line-up, an all Aussie affair for the Chinese Grand Prix.

“The reason for this action is a result of Sebastian’s disobedience and ignoring the team’s Multi 21 call to hold station during the Malaysian Grand Prix. This measure by the team shows our resolve in dealing with the champion’s ill discipline on that day.”

“At the same time we are very proud to have two Australian drivers in the line-up of our main Red Bull team for the first time ever, with Daniel Ricciardo joining Mark Webber in the team for the occasion of the race in China.” - Red Bull Boss."

its a pity, a little shock like that might have knocked some of the arrogance out of him, its a shame that some one with so much obvious talent has to be such an r sole

It is amazing how much is and will be forgiven when you are really good at what you do. The anointed one has no remorse and will do it again,he already knows he is bigger than the team.
He will never get past Mark as easily again of course.

Webber is one of the more likable fellows on the grid, and the equal of anyone out there. Save for his inexplicable inability to START his car. Weird.

I hope Webber punts the petulant one for the win in China.

I almost agree with you Jeff, but would modify that and instead hope that Mark has given one of the lesser driver/team combo's a nice holiday home in the Seychelles as adequate incentive to ruin the upstarts race.

Oh, and Mark, the handbrake needs to be off when the lights go out mate! ;)

Sebastian Vettel has warned Red Bull that he is likely to ignore team orders again and also claimed that his decision to do so in the last grand prix, in Malaysia three weeks ago, represented revenge for what his team-mate Mark Webber had done to him in Brazil last year.
The bullish Vettel could scarcely have been more different to the contrite, apologetic figure who said sorry to Webber and the entire team after ignoring the coded "multi 21" instruction from the team principal, Christian Horner, to stay behind the Australian in the last race, overtaking his team-mate to win.
The three-times world champion flexed his considerable muscles even more ominously on Thursday when he was asked whether he would flout team orders again. He said: "I am not sure I can give you a proper answer, because in the moment it might be different, but I would probably do the same.
"Had I understood the message and had I thought about it, reflected on it, thought what the team wanted to do, to leave Mark in first place and me finishing second … I think I would have thought about it and I would probably have done the same thing."
Vettel then suggested that his overtaking at Sepang was payback time: Webber made life difficult for him in the final race of last season in São Paulo, as he battled desperately to retain his crown. Webber was also more competitive than he was told to be at Silverstone in 2011.
Vettel said: "After all that's happened in the past few years, Mark didn't deserve to win." When asked if his action was a response to what happened in Brazil he said: "You could say that, indirectly.
"Being completely honest, I have never had support from his side. I have got the support of the team and I think the team has supported us the same way.
"In terms of my relationship with Mark, I respect him a lot as a racing driver but I think there has been more than one occasion in the past where he could have helped the team."

What a pathetic spoilt brat Vettel has turned out to be. I blame Red Bull management for his attitude, Vettel now knows he is in charge of the team and can do as he likes with no comeback on him. Red Bull management are as weak as piss.
Can you imagine something like that happening at Ferrari?

Very interesting Pete. Probably does explain his actions but says a lot about his post race comments. He couldn't think of the right excuse at the time but his management have had time to dream one up now that could be plausible. Snag is this really weakens the team. Bet McLaren and Ferrari are rubbing there hands in glee. You cannot deny Mark is guilty to a degree for pushing hard in the past when perhaps he should not have. But this is a new level so now we have our feud for the year. All pr is good, even bad pr. How many column inches will be written on this? A lot.

I don't get any of this. You don't pay guys millions of $$$ to "follow orders", if that's what you want, pay them peanuts.

Would Piquet have fallen in behind Mansell or vice versa?

No.

Would Senna have given way to Prost or vice versa?

No.

It seems the emasculation (or castration) of F1 continues apace.

Bullshit to 'team orders'..:veryangry:

I have a suggestion that would change the game comprehensively. Do away with pit to car telemetry and radio comms. Leave comms. to pit boards only.

Take away the 30 or so guys sharing the cockpit with the driver and then you'll see true champions.

I agree Keith, team orders are B.S. but they have always been a part of F1. Even when illegal.
What pisses me of about the current situation is Mark had turned the wick down
On his engine assuming that Vettel would being a man of honour would follow the multi 21 call. That is why Vettel made up three seconds on the lap.
He ambushed Mark so cannot claim he won fair and square. He is a total shit.
Horner is also piss weak.
The only way to stop team orders would be to limit the teams to one driver.
