Okay, for a change of pace, and I'm probably going to get laughed off the site but you did ask......
This is my South African assembled (in late 1996) Opel Kadett 200is, that I’ve owned since 1999. I bought at 50 000 km and now it has 250 000 km on it.
I recently had it serviced and polished and I reckon it looks pretty good for a car of that age. The only non standard bits are a branch manifold, a stainless steel exhaust and the paint on the wheels .
I do have it properly maintained though, in my ownership it’s had:
4 sets front brake pads
2 sets front brake discs
8 x rim repairs (potholes)
22 tyres
3 cam belts (preventative maintenance)
2 windscreens (sandblasted)
1 set dampers
3 batteries
1 starter
1 alternator
1 clutch (centre broke out)
1 clutch cable
1 tie rod end
1 wiper motor
1 headgasket + set rings and bearings (took head off to investigate water loss, did R&B while we were their)
5 x aircon repairs
Body repairs to front, rear and a LHS side swipe from a truck.
Sounds like a lot, but it is over 9 years.
Cheers
