Are those the same flairs as Bill D's car ?(just cut down) Or are they completely different? Either way,I'm jealous!!!! Great job!

Nice work Rob! Are you going to widen the rear wheels as well or ??

Re: Rob's build

Hey guys,
Yes Ron, they are the same as is on Bill and Sandy's rides, but trimmed way down.
Randy, I widened the rear track of the car. My hope is that the combination of widening the track width and triming the flares way down will be the happy medium. That sexy look with out having to have the steam roller wheels.
Thanks for the comments.

Headin back out to the shop...:)

Re: Rob's build

Followed Dean's lead and closed off the brake duct inlets today. Used blocks of styrofoam which I shaped, then covered with plastic garbage bags.
Will break out the foam in the morning.

Re: Rob's build

Finished up the brake ducts today, notched the lower front corner of the rear clip for the kill switch, and lots of sanding sanding sanding. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel at this point.:)

Re: Rob's build

Did you do this mod. or is this how they will come from Hot Rod Air? I am wondering if they have taken into account the differences in the center tunnel location on LH or RH drive cars?

Re: Rob's build

Hey Dean....
This is the plan for how they will come from HRA.

The dimensions will actually be the same, as the LH drive will be a mirror image with some of the bends reversed. The dryer will be on the opp. side, as will the condenser fittings and tubes.

OK....the flares are nearly complete. Made the clay molds last weekend, made glass pieces this weekend. Installed... fill work started. Hopefully can finish the filler work in the evenings after work, so I can spray and sand primer this weekend. (Want to make the most of the bonus day)

Also, glassed in the NACA ducts in the front clip last weekend.

Thanks guys...
Randy,
Sorry mate...didn't really want to make the first set... :D
Re the AC lines, the flare is a single for an O ring seat. It is not one that I am capable of making. Don't know what the flare tool even looks like for it. It came pre flared.

Dalton,
Glad to hear you like it. It was a tough debate....it was that or those ugly hood pin things at the top. I think this will be just as affective for a fraction of the price. ;)

No worries on the fiberglass flares.. :)

On the new AC Line - is that the one now available from RCR? I really did not like the earlier design either..

Rob, I could have saved you a lot of work. I make the flare extensions that go on the rocker panels. I'm surprised that they didn't come with the fender flares. When I supply the "Gulf" fender flares, I supply the rocker panel flares too. I'm in the process of casting moulds off some "Gulf" flares with the wheel arch lip that is turned out. These were off an original car with the widest wheels.

I used the ones provided by Fran. They took some trimming if you only wanted a 2 inch total flare. All in, I thought they worked pretty well.

For clarification purposed..... YES, rocker flares did come with the wheel arch flares from RCR. However, with all the modifications that I made, I thought it would be easier to make new lowers rather than try to change them to meet the modified arches. Key word.... "thought". Not sure now which way would have been quicker. None the less, pleased with the result.

Randy,
Yes, this is what the RCR lines will look like.

Quick update.....
Rocker flares are done. All panels prepped and ready. Priming will begin before the green light at Monaco on the morning.:D
