It's been a little while, so thought I'd post a quick update.
Cage is in.
Dash is in
Wiring is all but done. As far as I can until the F & R clips are on anyway.
Cooling system done.
A/C done.
Fuel system started.
Totally feasible I could spark it up next weekend, so long as I don't run up against any unforseen challenges with the fuel system.

Thanks gents.
Ron, I'm very pleased with the A/C system final fit/finish. It really does look OE factory installed and not like an aftermarket universal kit.

Looking good, Rob! What part of the kill switch will be visible when the rear clip is closed? I was checking out 1083 at Limerock a couple weeks ago and noticed the fire supression system trigger mounted in about the same place. Probably paranoia on my part, but I worried about some idiot dumping the system while I sat at a red light!

MReid,
I attempted to pay homage to the below pic of 1076. If you look up the string a bit to the shot where the rear clip is opened up. There is a notch on the LH side (wrt vehicle) where the switch will sit. Visible, yes, but not outside of the plane of the body surface. Not aware of an external fire system release on 1076.

Thanks Bill. Yea...yea... will do...

Rob,

Here is a picture of 1083 that my son took a couple of weeks ago. I was mistaken on the exact location. It appears to be set up exactly like 1076, but with the addition of the fire activation button just behind the door.

Your GT40 is really coming together nicely! I can't wait to hear first start and see it finished.

Rob:

The timing of your post was perfect. I am trying to fit the AC lines under the front clip on my RCR and could not figure our how they should go. Your pictures revealed that whomever is responsbile for bending pipe at Hot Rod air bent mine backwards, or sent plumbing for a different kit. Another little challenge . . . .

Your build is lookng great. Keep the pictures coming!!

Hi Chuck,
Glad the pics helped. They are pretty much the same as what's in the RCR assembly manual if memory serves correct. No matter....glad they were helpful.

Have you started a build thread yet?

Our build thread is in the early stages. Will be posting a lot shortly. Today put the final coat of paint on the dashboard after getting it trimmed and shapped, so it will be back to wiring and gauges. Also have got the AC unit pretty much laid out including the plenum, so the dash can be permanently installed. Our build site is "Chuck and Ryans RCR Build".

The AC pipes sent were for a right hand drive care. Mine is left hand drive.

Time for an update.....
I've spent the last couple weekends plumbing the Cooling system, finishing up wiring the accessories and creating the fuel plumbing.
Had this all finished at about 6pm tonight, decided to spark it up, but had no spark. Determined the pertronix electronic ignition was the root cause. Had to go old school and install a set of points. By the time I got this all done it was 9:30pm, so no tuning what so ever, but here it is.....:D

Here is vid of 5 mins after the first spark up:

What a beautiful looking car. Great job! I originally did not think too much of the Gulf colours, but after seeing so many posts of them I gotta say I am warming up very fast to the Gulf scheme.

Beautiful work on the fuel system hard-lines, Rob. A very sanitary install that REALLY looks the part. Nicely done.

Best,

T.
